Please can anyone help. I'm desperate....

Can anyone put a dismantled DS Lite back together for me?

Bought our daughter a DS Lite for Xmas. Nothing unusual there, but within 4hrs of ownership she has managed to drop it and crack the bottom screen. So I ordered from DX and have all the parts. It was the touch screen that cracked, but didn't know that at the time, so have both parts of bottom screen. I have tried really REALLY hard to put it back together, but the clip that holds the touch screen in place has come off and it's so fiddly I can't get it back in place to retain the strap thing.

I have youtubed it and know how to do it, but just can't get it done, and am very close to launching it through a window. This will make a 6 yr old girl very cross with Daddy !

I am willing to pay, obviously, but need it fixing. It's only had 4hrs use, and is useless at the mo and I can't afford to go out and buy another.

If anyone can fix it, or knows anyone, please let me know. I am desperate.

    Thanks.

Thanks. I've watched them before, but cannot get the damn retaining clip back in place, and without that it will not make a working connection.

maybe you just need a smaller pair of hands to help you

    You offering?

Just watched the video. Can double-sided tape be used to keep the screen in place on the board?

i've got patience and small hands but too far away

hiya. Did the same thing for my daughter. Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to get the damn thing back and working. Ended up buying a new DS. Have looked on internet though and there are a couple of firms that will fit them for you for £40 (includes the screen and postage both ways) just google it.

I wondered about that as well, but eventually the glue will dry up through heat and time and I'll be back to square one. Nintendo put the clip there for a reason, and it was probably to foil people like me :whistling:

Which part of the country are you in if the offer is still there?

I get your point about the tape. There is a heatsink paste that is used to glue the fan to the processor in a PC (which gets very hot), this might work. It can be bought from a computer shop.

If all else fails, there are some refurbished one on DealExtreme ]http//ww…ite

If all else fails, she has no DS Lite, but I appreciate your efforts Pred.

My sons red DS has broke with a cracked hinge... sent it back to Nintendo with the receipt but they charged £32.50 to repair it as said hinges are not covered under the guarantee then only 10 weeks later the other hinge cracked and this time Nintendo charged me £53 to repair it !!!!

In view of this I thought I would ask if you know if this repair could be done oneself and where to buy the parts from !! I don't wanna get ripped off again and with 3 kids all with DS's it's prob gonna happen again !!

    :x

Off to bed now, but I'll check back in the morning. Fingers crossed, maybe the DS fairy will pop round tonight and fix it.
