    I am considering either Nokia 5800, Samsung Omnia, LG Renior, Sony C905, Samsung Pixon or Samsung Tocco Ultra my daughter is 15 and i have no idea which one to choose will probably be on the o2 £35 tariff as i can get a discount of 30% any advise would be greatly appeciated .She takes the odd pictures but does listen to music on her phone and text's loads .

    i have two daughters, a 15 yr old and an 11 yr old. I know many people will tell you kids of this age dont need phones but as parents of teenagers you want to be able to contact them to ensure they are safe and you know how girls especially like to socialise and gossip and these days this includes emailing, texting etc.

    I would advise you before you choose a phone for your daughter to ASK her what she would like because they have very strong opinions about this kind of thing, and suddenly something can become desirable or undesirable for strange reasons such as.. my friend has one of those, I cant have one tooo!!!

    Apparently the Omnia is quite complicated (so I was told when I upgraded), something to do with Windows mobile. The rest should be pretty striaghtforward

    if she texts a lot then go for non touch girlish phone ;any sleek flip phone should be good for her...try choosing one with good battery life;

    My brother has the omnia and it is complicated and my friend has the tocco and she don't like it its too sensitive. i'm getting the c905 tommorow i only wanted that phone because of the camera. i think for a 15 year old the 5800 would be the best phone because it is an Xpress music phone which means it is loaded with alot of music tracks. but you should ask her opinion too she might have completley different ideas!

    I did look at the 5800 because of the music but did agree with ujags and thought they were not the best for texting , i have seen that o2 i believe it is do a pink c905 but heard mixed reviews about the software issues on sony phones,shes a really good daughter so i want it to be a good surprise for her 15th birthday ,thanks for your comments all of you

You might as well get her the iphone 8Gb on £35 a month for 24 months then.After all its not worth getting a good phone and getting it lost or stolen is it?

    i can get this contract for £22.84 , she has had a contract phone for a few years and hasn't lost one yet thats why i want to get her a good phone, the problem with the iphone is a new one comes out in sept and i don't like this edition it doesn't even have bluetooth .As for keeping the kid grounded , i believe she is well grounded straight a/a+ student and i am extreamly proud of her, she know the value of money but you can spoil your kids now and again and this is what i try to do if i have enough money (i also have 2 other kids and treat them all the same)
    The reason i have contract phones for my kids is because a group of lads threatened my son and daughter and one had used all their credit the other had enough for 1 call ,i do not want to be in the same situation again

    Fair enough, just cos she's getting a contract for £35/month for her birthday doesn't mean she gets money like that spent on her every day!!
