Please Help Me With My Job Application

Right I'm just trying to fill out a job application for a Medical Records Clerk at a prison. For the final part there are some questions that I have to answer and a couple of them are stumping me a bit. My brain has hit a road block!

    The questions are:
Why are you applying for this job?
What skills can you bring to this post?
What do you think you would like most about this job?
What do you think you would dislike about this job? - this one is stumping me!
What issues do you think you would have to consider working in a custodial environment? - all i can think of is the security issue here

help me please and I'll slap some rep your way

I think these are questions only you can answer ! I do not know what a Prison clerkjob entails so cannot really comment. The only thing I would say is that rephrase the questions so that you are the interviewer .... and think about what you expect the interviewee would say or rather what you would "like" them to say.

Why are you applying for this job?

looking for a new challenge always goes down well

You need to consider how the inmates might react towards you, knowing that you goback to your own house at night - how would you deal with that? Would it alter the way you interact with them? Would it affect the way or method that you work?

What do you think you would dislike about this job

Can't help you with this one, other than to say that you need to stay positive - if you say anything negative they will ask you why you're applying for the job if you don't like it. Maybe pick something but then say that although you might dislike it you would hope to change it for the better by .....

Stress your skills & how the company will benefit by employing them. Stay positive throughout the application form; if you do need to mention anything negative then immediately follow up by saying how you have changed/would change it to a positive.

The company are lookign for someone who will look to change things that don't work or are wrong, rather than someone who will just go with the flow.

    Good luck.

What do you think you would dislike about this job? - this one is stumping me!
I wouldn't say i am going to dislike anything but might find it different at first because of the nature of the job but it won't take me long to adjust???

I think it's better to point something out and say you will get used to it/adjust to it rather than saying i wont dislike anything!
Everyone hates something about their job or in some cases hate their job!!!

I think Cyrus is right, only you can really asnwer these questions.

From what I understand, most of the questions you listed are designed to make sure that not only do you have something to offer them, but that you actually have an interest in the job and are wanting to work there. In otherwords, that you are not just after a pay packet and/or likely to leave after a few months. It costs money to both hire and train someone into a new position, so they want to make sure that they spend that money on a long term investment.

-Being in an awkward / violent situation

-Security and not leaving yourself open to accusations (don't give anything to a prisoner)

I used to interview people for jobs, it is so boring asking people the same questions over and over. If you are sincere and pleasant you will shine in the interview. Don't be afraid, the interviewers will be bored stupid.
It often helps to get someone to interview you, for practise, beforehand.
    GOOD LUCK.

Good luck with your job application, just be yourself and heed the advice offered from other members.

Let us know how you get on

Thanks for all your advice and support people. I took the application in earlier by hand as I didn't want it to get delayed in the post. Been a while since I've had an interview as I've been a househusband looking after my 3 year old for a while. Looking forward to getting out into the working world again anyway. Will let you know how I get on!
