Plumber wanted in Leamington Spa area

I need someone who can change the electric Mira shower unit on the wall with another Mira unit, but a power shower version.
I have the unit to fit, just no confidence or ability to do so.
No desperate time frame for doing so, as I've had the unit nearly 2 months !!!
Not a lot of money to spend, just a wife who keeps asking how long it will stay in the box for.
If you can help, please PM me.
Cheers.

When you say you are replacing the electric shower with a "Power shower" version, is the new one electric, as a power shower is usually a description used for a gravity fed system or with a pump.

OK, thanks for the heads up thesaint. The unit says it is for use only with gravity fed systems.
How the hell do I go about setting up a PM?

Do you have a gravity fed system? Electric showers are usually fitted to sealed systems. Do you have a combi boiler?

Your PM system should already be set up. In the green bar at the top of the page you will see a link to your PM's. If someone sends you one, I think it's normal to get a "Pop up" to let you know.

AAh. OK, now I see the PM option at the top.
The unit is for gravity fed systems only. As far as I know it has a little pump inside it to make the flow faster. If it helps anyone, I am replacing a Mira Zest with a Mira Event XS Thermostatic.

Now do you see my dilemma about ability and confidence ??? Not even got the thing out of the box yet !!

Can you answer this question?

thesaint;1461686

Do you have a combi boiler?

I won't be able to help you, but at least when you speak to someone you can give them answers to questions they may ask.
If you sound like you don't have a clue, you can expect your bill to double.

Now that I can answer. Boiler is in cupboard in kitchen. Box on wall for central heating and hot water to change settings. Hot water tank in airing cupboard upstairs.

These non-technical questions are OK for me. Thanks for the help.

but could have a combi storage boiler

kyalion,

If you have an electric shower now, it is unlikely that there is any hot water that you need to feed the power shower, as the electric one will heat it up in the shower unit whereas the power shower will draw the hot water from your immersion heater.

The price is dependant on how easy/hard it is to do this work. Best to call a few people in. Ask friends/neighbours if they know anyone.

I appreciate all the help and assistance you guys are giving me.

You have completely lost me with the threads of combi's and combi storage boilers. What difference would either of these make anyway ?

a normal boiler you heat your water in tank, when thats gone you need to re-heat your water, a combi you turn your tap on and its instant hot water, no need to heat a tank of water up, a bit like and electric shower it heats as its used

I know you're right about calling someone in. I am also fairly sure, that I don't have an immersion heater.

again is your water instantly hot when you turn on a tap, or do you have to heat it up before use? I have to go out now, it will then tell us if you have a traditional boiler or a combi

It always seems hot when a tap is turned on, BUT, we can run out if the kids and wife all have baths. I only use a shower.

Hot water tank in airing cupboard upstairs.

The hot water tank in your airing cupboard is called an immersion heater. I've never thought about it before, but I'm guessing it's called this because the heating element is immersed in water.

I may be wrong here but thought you could have a combi that has a tank, a bit like a regular boiler for the water but a combi for the heating:?

Anything is possible.

How the OP has described his system suggests that he has a 'normal' system.
