    It's a thermistor. For c/h or h/w flow temps.

    On your Performer drop down the case by undoing the 2 screws either end. Then you should be able to see them. One either side of the plate heat exchanger (edited)

    Yeah definitely leaking on the flow out. Impossible to say if elsewhere

    Looks like a temperature probe... and if you don't know what it is, should you be removing it ?

    Considering the OP recently had trouble running the wiring for his dashcam, the answer is a definite no.

    The probe in my boiler isn’t in direct contact with the water, it’s in a sort of void in the pipe with some white thermal paste so I could easily remove it and leave it hanging.
