Thankfully first time ever (touch wood) it hasnt furthered into an infection, think maybe he was fighting off something and his glands where up, but touch wood he seems ok although a little grey, thanks for asking:thumbsup:

B & Q or similar would be my bet. I'll try and find one.

all the ones i have found are with the vent, i already have the vent (although unsure if it is the vent im supposed to have)

So you have the vent and you want something to go over the top of the vent to stop the wind blowing back in ?

Is that right ?

Think it could be the Air Blast Cowl that you are looking for, not seen it sold on it's own though?

there is already a cover on it, but i dont think its doing its job, i have a black hole (enter the smut) and it isnt supposed to not let draughts in and the wind coming through it never allows the lounge to heat up, so thought first stop get a new cowl, or just get a new complete vent and cowl, maybe they lied to shut me up when putting it in:oops:

Tbh I've got the same one and it is pretty bad:?

What is it a vent from sassie ? Is it just a standalone air vent or does it actually come fromm a fire or something ?

Oh really, well that saves me going and replacing it then, did wonder if they had lied, but obviously not, the wind that comes through it is disgusting, my lounge is always so cold:x

I have a back boiler with a continual lit pilot light, so have to have the air vent in the wall, its not attached to fire or anything its the opposite side of the room on an external wall

It should be one of these ]http//ww…=88

Ah ok got you. To be honest I would have thought either your best bet would be to replace it with a purpose built vent like the B&Q one or get someone nice to make something to act as a hood.

As long as you have an outlet for fumes is all that matters. You can even move it somewhere else if you want, somewhere the wind wont get to it

ooops sorry marshall didnt see your post, no they dont do them there:thumbsup:

what do you mean a purpose built one:?

Just get a new combi boiler and get rid of the back boiler/vent jobbie.

Give British Gas a call, they're quite reasonable.

If i could afford it i would, but even half of what they want is too much really, if the boiler was crackered then yes ide have to, but apart from that there is naff all wrong with it:x

The problem is that a back boiler needs a certain amount of air flow to prevent carbon monoxide build up, sorry Sassie:oops:

yeah, through the flue (think thats right) this is a room vent in the room due to an ignited pilot light

It's not too bad sassie, the vents in the corner behind the tv but it's bloody cold behind there.

mine is under a bay window and even wth curtains drawn across its still bad, when it is really fierce outside it blows the curtains, and they are heavy lined ones:oops:

Back boilers have no venting they only rely on airflow from wall vents.

That seems a bit big, I think builders merchants would be a better bet, they are more likely to stock them that large.

I have seen them sold without the rest of the vent kit, I just can't remember where as they are the bit that always gets damaged and so need replacing.
