    Poor snapfish photo quality?

I'm curious how people are finding Snapfish photo quality these days, when they had their 50% off albums offers I decided to order one but was disappointed by some of the prints - despite uploaded high resolution pictures some of the darker prints just looked poor. However the person I ordered it for was very pleased with it so I thought I was just being picky.

More recently I ordered a batch of 6x4's and the quality of these is quite noticeably poor, as they are a gift for someone I've had to use them anyway. The main problem seems to be the pictures look to have gone through some sort of 'optimiser' which has automatically tried to brighten dark photos. Most of the pictures were of the dog (a black and white spaniel) and many of them were deliberately low keyand they've been ruined by the brightening effect Snapfish have applied.

Is it just me or have other people found the same?

No real issues, although its been a couple of months since I have placed an order, no doubt I will be looking some prints after Christmas.
    Thanks for the shout.

The last lot I had were fine but the set before that were as you describe. They printed them again for me and they were ok.

The books (3 of the same book) I had printed with the 50% discount offer were fine

However, I dont think the quality of individual photographs are as good as photobox

ive never had problems with them, ive ordered loads of photo's and posters, even tried the greatings cards this year

I've always been very pleased with photobox quality however the p&p charges are a bit harsh with small orders, the collect at store for Snapfish is good for this. If the end result isn't very good though it's not worth saving the money, sounds like it's worth contacting Snapfish though.

I just collected 2 photobooks and 100 prints from Jessops (that I had done through Snapfish). And though the photobooks are great, the photos are extremely dark - darker than the photos I uploaded.
For prints I would recommend Photobox, I've never had any problems with them.

I've stopped using Snapfish now, Jessops do instore 7x5 printing for 10p (not the same as Snapfish) - quality is far better than Snapfish. If ordering online I'll stick with Photobox, if I can find what I did with the Snapfish prints I'll upload a comparison so people can see the difference in quality.

If you order the hour prints from snapfish to pick up in store (jessops) they are (usually) printed on the machines at that store, also i am lead to believe that when you pick up in store they are printed at Jessops central labs. so if you do have probs it might be fixable instore, reprints or whatever.

Also, prints and the on-screen image will often differ if your monitor isnt calibrated
