All good in my eyes, but just wait....Internet Shopping Tax is waiting just around the corner! Or it will be if they pass this.

Joshy, shops make next to nothing on cigs as it is, because of the taxation.

Do you think you might get Quidco?! Now, that would be icing on the cake!

Would be great if they did - my hubby smokes 30 ciggies a day - would save a fortune!

Not for much longer  and you know it :-D

To give you all an indication. When I came back from Dubai, bought 200 fags with me.

Those 200 fags cost, in our money £6.14. This was from the duty free in the airport.

3p a fag!!! Oh happy days!

The Sun's story about this today makes me sick.

"Hic Hic Hooray!" they yelp, telling us how marvellous it is that people will be able to get cheap fags and booze over the internet.

How WONDERFUL that people stupid enough to smoke will now be able to give themselves cancer at a fraction of the normal cost (let's not bother to mention the cost to the NHS when situations like this lead to taxpayers footing the bill for the increased strain of cancer patients in years to come, eh?)

How MARVELLOUS that people can now drown themselves in alcohol for next to nothing! All the better that people can forget their troubles by becoming an alcoholic instead of sorting their lives out.

Still, it all comes down to natural selection in the end...

UK already has extremely immature attitude with regards to alcohol (compared to the rest of Europe where they don't have such problems and can live with a mostly 16yo drinking age limit)

    UK businessses will suffer.
Smokers & drinkers will increase their pressure on the NHS system (don't worry I'm just as biased about unhealthy obese people who do the same)
Am I all for cheaper prices?
At what price tho, for those thinking im spreading Daily Mail (whom I detest) fear mongering, I'm not, just pointing there are consequences to providing cheaper booze and fags.
But then at the same time i'd be all for US/Saudi type petrol prices but consequences of that would result in alot more roads mimicking the M25 peak time type congestion.

UK isn't ready to be flooded by cheap booze and fags IMHO to be available to the masses, also only 50% of UK households have access to the internet, the same demographic who would probably benefit most from these price cuts.

Each to their own - for some people it's fun! I agree that taking it to extreme costs NHS millions but so does drug taking and macdonalds.

Personally I have private healthcare so I don't burdon the NHS - even though I don't take it to the extreme.

PS If the goverment invested money into smoking and drinking addiction programme for people not on benefits then they might save a fortune

Not going to happen. Up yours, The Sun!
