Does anyone know if you can actually get a statement from this type of account,do they do it at the PO,is it just like a mini statement showing the last few transactions ?

    Thanks for any help

No you cannot get one from the Post Office. The DWP sends out a statement every three months by post.

My dad has an account with the post office and receives statements from the post office too,

if its a post office card cash account - then the post office send one via the post every 3 months - just like a normal bank statement

It says this on their site,so it only gives you the balance then, not an actual print out ?:

Useful for people who don’t have a bank account, the Post Office® card account is specifically for receiving benefit, state pensions and tax credit payments.
    no overdraft and no charges
    no credit checks
take cash out and check your balance
ask for a second card if you need someone else to collect your money for you

It is a statement like you get with the banks, i just asked, so if you have a post office account they send you a statement showing how much you have left, what you've withdrawn etc.. its not the small white receipts, its an actual statement you get every month
