    Post office receipts

I've just realised i have a massive box full of post office receipts from years of selling, ebaying etc. and need to sort them out.
Does anybody know what's the maximum amount of time possible that somebody could try and claim money back via paypal/credit card etc.and i'm safe without a receipt??
I don't want to throw a receipt away from 6 months ago to find that somebody reverses the charge next week :-s
Any help most appreciated and repped. Thanks

Fabbo! (Just need to wake up and calculate that in months now lol)
Thanks ever so much, you're a star

I always find receipts from post office parcels, sometimes they go back 3 years, like when a handbag might not been used for a while etc.

    Keep them for 6 yrs..........

    for the taxman :whistling:

rather than check every one for a date, I just bundle them all up and put a date on the box. Then shred them all in 6 months time. And repeat with fresh batch of receipts

You need to get a system going from now on, I keep my receipts in order that items have been sent on ebay and destroy it when that person leaves feedback. If they haven't left any after a week I send them a nice message asking if they can so I know they've received it OK, after another week if they still haven't left any I send a final message saying that I'm going to destroy the certificate of posting at the end of XXX so they need to let me know before then if they haven't received it. A bit of work I know but at least you don't end up with a huge box full of receipts!! If only all people would leave feedback straight away (like I always do) life would be so much simpler. Happy sorting!!

is ebay feedback proof of receipt of item then if buyer makes a claim? I dont think it is.

Why isn't it? If they're saying in the feedback "thanks for item, it's lovely" etc etc, then they need to have received it to have said that (or is that just me?). I don't see how a buyer can leave feedback and then claim they haven't received it.

because they can just say to paypal that they put feedback on the wrong item and yours never arrived.

pretty sure paypal would side with the buyer unless you can provide proof of receipt.

I always put the recorded delivery number in the paypal payment online so will always have the tracking info (also automatically sends the buyer the tracking info)

    thanks for confirming

A time lot of sellers will say £5, some say every time, depending on their experience with buyers....If the buyer has a history of INR then I would send recorded regardless:)

Well, royal mail always pay out for me. You just have to keep bugging em.
    Just charge for recorded then

I was referring to paypal as were others above thinking that feedback on ebay allowed them to prevent buyers from filing items not received claims down the line. ONLY proof of delivery is acceptable proof as far as paypal is concerned.
