Potterton Suprema Boiler upgrade - Part No. 5111603

Found 17th Nov 2007
My Potterton Suprema 80 boiler is constantly tripping out, and I understand that the only solution is to replace the printed circuit board (pcb).
Does anyone know of a cheap and reliable source for one of these upgrade kits?

I got one from ebay. Bit of a hit and miss with regards to price, but persist and you can find it cheap.

Still got mine spare as it turned out something else though.

In fact, search for 'sarumlady' and he's got a few on BIN. That's where I got mine from too.

Also (I'm on a roll ;-)), I have some documents which you can use to do some fault finding on the boiler. My problem turned out to be a faulty Air Pressure Switch.

These are recon and therefore could go wrong again according to various forums I have been on. I wish to buy the upgrade kit listed above. Thanks anyway.

I had the same problem last year ,and its not nice especially coming in to winter. I bought a new pcb off E-bay and saved myself £100. The board is easy to change once the power is turned off and takes less than 10 mins.
Take the old board out and check the part no. and then look for a reputable seller on E-bay .Its gotta be worth a punt especially when you see what heating engineers charge.

Not sure what you are basing your figures on but us heating engineers invest alot of money in training, tools, insurance etc. These costs have to be included in hourly rates im afraid.

Just remember when anyone without experience messes with heating appliances is that they can produce carbon monoxide.

You could for example take out a plan with British Gas for as little as £9 per month for their Homecare Flexi 100. You get a service every year and a fixed price £50 for any completed repair. Plus I think you can get some Quidco as well.

PS I dont work for BG I only deal with oil fired boilers.

If your boiler has been properly serviced every year and you have paperwork
Baxi potterton will replace the part FOC. It's a well documented fault on this boiler I'm afraid.
