And after the weekend, Liverpool still lead the way

hope we can still say that in may

    hammers should have beaten chelsea

anyone can win a long as its not man u got a tenner on them not winning the league

    Draws for all the big 4 which was quite surprising when they're opposition was;

Middlesbrough, Hull, Tottenham & West Ham

It shows how open the league is this year. It's still very close though except for the bottom 2 who look like they're going to become stranded if they don't pick up any points in their next two games. Blackburn have to get rid of Ince and soon if they want to have any chance of surviving this season. Although personally I don't think their bad results are all down to him just the fact that they haven't replaced Bentley.

Sunderland got an excellent result yesterday in what was pretty much a 6 pointer.

Arsenal v Liverpool is going to be a good one next week, Chelsea have a relatively easy fixture against Everton who have 0 strikers at the moment. I quite fancy our chances v Villa too.

Man City have gone to the dogs and are equal on points with Sunderland in 18th. I think their problems lie with no player (except Robinhos) future being safe. Very much like what happened to West Ham when the two Argies arrived.

A good point for us today anyway and i'm very disappointed with the style Chelsea played. Drogba, Lampard, Kalou & Terry I recall all of them diving in and around the penalty box. Carlton Cole had a glorious chance to win it for us at the end but hit it staright at Cech. Green was excellent as ever.

Still as I said a good point for us and i'm overall somewhat dispaointed we didn't take 3 as they was there for the taking.

lol - I quite fancy our chances against you too

could be a big weekend for us if pool can beat arsenal and we manage to beat you guys we'll be sitting a bit more comfortably in 4th place!

    worto.

Gutted, United could of gained some points on the Pile and ChelSCUM this weekend if only they took their chances.

Overall though I think United's point against the rejuvenated Tottenham away is worth more in the long run.

West Ham and Hull are teams you have to get 3 points against really if you want to be Champions.

It will be a good match I think, i'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully Harewood will play

He's my favourite player who plays for another team

It's the second time this season already that all of the Top 4 teams failed to win in one weekend.

Arsenal are already out of it, and it's now a straight race between Liverpool, Man U, and Chelsea, and being honest, i'll be astounded if it's still Liverpool at the top at the end of the season

They weren't in the Top 4 going into the weekend were they?

Although last time the "big 4" failed to win, i think Hull were 3rd :giggle:

I can't see Aston Villa staying up there this season though

Yep The Pile lack depth and class like United and to some degree ChelSCUM.

I don't care too much if ChelSCUM win it but no way would I be happy if The Pile won it.

prob not, i be happy with 5th to be honest, as long as young and gabby keep playing so well

i can safely say that after the new year; liverpool are going to start falling back and its going to be a two horse race yet again between Chelsea and sh.itt.y man.u, and chelsea will prevail and take the title this season.

What one (be realistic here please) player would you like your club to sign in the January window?

Controversially, for Liverpool, despite Benitez's comments, i would sign Michael Owen, when fit, he WILL score goals, and has a record of 1 in 2 or better for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and England. If, as has been rumoured, it is Heskey instead, i will be more than a little confused

you could reunite heskey and owen, lol

Whoever is top on Boxing day will be the winners, That's been the case for about a decade I think, United were top boxing day last season albeit for a week, The rest is history.

Interesting thing this year though is the fact that by boxing day United will still have 2 games in hand so essentially 6 points, So add the possible 6 points on top of the points United have on boxing day then United will have a great chance if the 6 points put them ahead of whoever's top at the time .

I think we have a good squad here at West Ham and realistically given our budget there is no one we can sign who will improve the team.

It's much more important for us to get Dyer, Gabbidon & Ashton back from injuries as that will improve all area's of our squad.

We also need to keep hold of Upson & Green which Zola has assured us are not for sale.

Boa Morte, Mullins, Spector, Walker, Quashie are all up for sale as are a couple of other fringe players. Whatever Zola gets for them will go straight back into the team so i'm quite interested to see what our DoF can do with some money. Behrami & Illunga are both excellent signings from him and between them they only cost £5 million. Behrami is worht £15 million so the signs are good.

Ashton & Bellamy could be sold if the right offers come in, Zola alredy has his sites set on a big name striker to bring in though although I don't know who.

Interesting, i'd be looking to keep Bellamy, he wasn't right for Liverpool, but with all due respect, West Ham is probably about his level. He did well with Blackburn.

please take spoilers out of the title, didn't look at rest of thread as I'm planning on watching motd2 tonight... :x ..........

I don't think he fits in well with our team, we now play a passing game much like Arsenal whereas Bellamy doesn't pass he just likes to shoot and very rarely from inside the box. We need a natural finisher, someone like Ashton but who would stay fit.

I think Bellamy would do very well at Villa where they are a very fast team

Bellamy also has a few injury niggles which we can do without and he has a very fiery temper what gain we can do without.

Good player though he just doesn't fit in with our style

Spurs had the best chances in the game, though not the lions share of possession. Its just a shame that not winning is almost (but not quite) as bad as losing with the point system we have in place designed to stop negativitey. Both sides lost out effectively. At least they stopped the rot of home defeats with a good performance. (Particularly without both first choice centre backs.) If only they could play with that sort of passion every week against "lesser teams". 5 games against the top 4, 2 wins and 3 draws. Not bad by any standards!

Very good result today for WHU. Happy with that.

Congratulations Liverpool...... Enjoy it while you can because come January Gerrard and Torres will be joining my Team for a billion dollars a piece.......

Blue moon is rising and the American debt mongers cannot say no to the Abu Dhabi cash.......

Neither United or Spurs did enough to win it, Neither side really created many chances, To be honest, United need to do more upfront, The attacking play is brilliant, Smooth passing beautiful football etc.. A bit like ARSEnal last season to some degree, It's been the same for the last few games, Not creating enough goal scoring opportunities. United need to start punishing teams and put the ball in the net.

Credit to Spurs though, They had a game plan, Harry's a great manager and probably just the right man to stabilize Spurs.

LOL. Arsenal are not out of it, we should be, but the others have been dropping points as well. Teams have come back from 8 points behind before and I believe Arsenal can, we've got a lot more injuries than the rest of the top 4, and once Walcott, Nasri, Eduardo, Toure and Rosicky are all back to full fitness we'll be difficult to beat.

Liverpool have a different problem, they ARE creating loads of opportunities, yet time and time again, poor finishing lets them down. Yesterday, with Alonso and Mascherano in midfield, Gerrard was free to get into the box and scoring types of goals that our strikers have been missing this season, with Torres out.

I think the transfer window will be busy this year, Arsenal need some impetus, wonder if some big guns will head from Chelsea to Inter.
