    Prescriptions Free in Norn Iron

Yes, as from yesterday they are free, you don't even have to tick the wrong box on the back of the form.

Been free in Wales for years

    I'm jealous

Swings and roundabouts - I'd rather have paid for prescriptions but get seen quicker at a hospital. The more "liberal" targets in Wales and Scotland has meant longer waits for patients.....

And one of the reasons given for increasing levels of MRSA is the overuse of anti-biotics. Maybe if everyone had to pay for anti-biotics it may cut the unnecessary usage and save a packet on fighting MRSA in hospitals. just a thought............

Then it's down to the GP's to reduce their prescriptions for antibiotics.

It's also down to the medical staff cleansing their hands, which they don't adhere to in my experience, nevermind the cleaners not doing their job properly.

personally i'd rather pay for my prescriptions and have lower waiting … personally i'd rather pay for my prescriptions and have lower waiting times for hospital appointments,I had injections in my spine Dec 08 , check up Jan 09 and my next appointment is April 2010 and this was classed as urgenthow the hell is a surgeon supposed to monitor progress with this long between appointments is beyond me

Have to say I agree with this.

There are many other things the money should be spent on - prescriptions weren't exactly expensive in any case, and in most cases never covered the basic cost of the drug.
