    primark on the racks

did ya watch it wat did ya think

I think there are many other companies apart Primark doing the same thing.

I also think we would be shocked at some of the high fashion names who do the same but charge a lot more for their stuff. But they can afford to pay a lot more money to keep it quiet

Sad that any kid has to work in factories but I would estimate about 50% of fashion shops get their supplies from the same place.

    They suck! :x

    Primark rule! Sooo cheap.

Also I don't see what the problem is with giving them jobs, the children don't have to do it.

Trust you to come out with such a comment, the children in many cases are abused as a result and have no control in the matter hence it is also known as slave labour ...

Doesn't make it any more acceptable, nike footballs are produced for as little as 50p each and sold for upwards of £50, it's sickening

I think you need to learn the definition of "slave" they are not slaves, they are paid employees and if they didnt work then their family would be poorer than they are.

Would you rather they not work and not gain an income at all?

    It's simple a free market.

Peeling potatoes ? Get a grip - the jobs the children do are highly skilled and should the same labour be used in the 'developed world' stores such as primark would not exist.

so child labour isnt an issue then

oh its not just peeling pototoes it was using dangeros machinery

As i mentioned before this is also referred to as slave labour to which someone replied they are not slaves. I assume he believes a slave to be someone who is shackled and transported amongst thousands in trucks. Do you not consider sex trafficing slavery ? They get paid dont they ?

It is illegal in britain for anyone unqualified and without the relevant safety equipment to operate machinery let alone a ten year old so i assume the company was shut down or were you using a battery powered potatoe peeler ?

I am going by the dictionary definition of slaves, these people are not slaves, they are employed by Primark they don't have to work if they wont want to they can just stop and let their families starve to death, Primark is actually having an effective impact on this country by providing them with jobs.

lol this "dog mascot" makes more sense than you, how crazy is that?

thats not slavery. thats poor people in a poor country being paid poor wages. you would prefer that primark pull their operations out? then their family will have to find work for the same amount where there probably isnt going to be any.

im not supporting the exploiting of poverty in the 3rd world... mind you....

I see no butchering of comments from you, only petty arguments about poor McGruff the crime dog, neither of which support anything you say. Keep going though, every comment from you that ignores my actual points about the issue only further increases the size of my e-*****.

I am against this.. I feel companies should be required to hire workers within the UK therefore we have more jobs available within our country. So what if the company loses money ! I Blame the government.

i hope you enjoy paying 3x the amount you currently pay for a shirt. those savings are being passed onto you, the consumer. With less people buying their products due to their increased prices the company would lose money and probably lay staff off to compensate. Sounds real good.

Exactly what I said when I watched it. Oh and the same stuff Proximo is saying. The fact is they work to survive and it's all well and good people from so called 'developed' countries making issue of it, but what alternative do they have? Stop them doing it and let them starve? As Jasonrat said, it's all relative. To put this in perspective, it's thought that the average wage in the UK is about £25k. Now try telling that to somebody in this country on minimum wage and also telling them how much better off they are (bearing in mind they'll be taking home well under 10K a year and most of that will go on gas, electricity, petrol, council tax...). Oh and good luck at avoiding the smack in the mouth that they'll no doubt give you for free ;-)

Well tbh if your getting clothes for £3 youd be dumb to think someone isnt being abused to make it

Just because child labour is band in usa and uk doesnt mean its doesnt take place anywhere else - thats why things are so cheap
