    Printer Advice

Hello there,I'm on the lookout for a Printer but am unfamiliar with all the different terms so was hoping you could offer some advice.
I'll only be using it for printing text off the net, guitar tabs, sheet music and some scanned books in PDF format.
I'll almost exclusively be printing in B/W but having the option of colour would be a plus.
Overall I just want the best quality I can that's also efficient to run,as for types
I don't know the difference between Laser,Inkjet etc so any advice is welcome.

    Cheers

Printer companies are very clever - printers can be bought new for £30 or £40 but the replacement cartridges can cost more than the printers!!!

If you are doing lots of printing then these costs will quickly exceed those of the printer but if you're only doing 10 sheets a month then they're less important. PC Pro gives a breakdown of cost per page for example pcpro.co.uk/lab…tml

If you want colour - go for an inkjet (but buy one where you can get cheap generic replacement cartridges rather than expensive branded cartridges) . If b/w go for a cheap laser.

I can recommend a good inkjet printer. The Canon ip4000 is a very good printer and offers duplex printing (Printing on each side of a sheet) this saves on paper costs and maybe useful if you're printing books. It's currently £58 on Amazon, but may be cheaper elsewhere. It's pretty economical and non-original cartridges are cheap on many sites. Hope that helps!

I have a Canon ip3000 and it's pretty good (duplex etc). Also prints directly onto labelled CDs/DVDs and replacement inks are on Ebuyer for under £2....

    That's great,i'll check them out.
So which is best out of a Laser and an Inkjet printer?
    Does the quality differ vastly?
