Printer Ink - Best Place To Buy ?

    Hello Fellow HUKD users,

My colour ink in my HP Photosmart C4180 has run out - Boohoo!
Ive been looking around and found that its going to cost around £20 for a brand new one..

However I thought i'd take a look on Ebay and found the ink cartridge i need (342) for around £10 inc postage.

    Ebay item number: 160332324004

However this ink is a re-fill thingi-me-bob and im worried it wont be as good as the ink u get from an orginal HP cartridge.

can anyone recommend me a site / store where I can either buy a genuine new cartridge for around a tenner, or a ink re-fill kit (bareing in mind ive never done a reill thing before, how easy is it) ?

    Thnx to all that reply.

EDIT - by the way, the name 7dayshop seems to reflect the time it takes them to deliver!

I'm pretty sure they are the bunch that my Dad uses and he's had no problems - but I can't check to be certain until Monday as he's off on holiday!

ah thats cool, i might go with this website, as the other one only seem to do XL and I dont think my printer will accepect anything but the standard size cartridges.

or are they refuring to how much capacty the cartridge holds?

Some XL cartridges are physically bigger than the standard ones (the black size 88 which I use for example). Others just contain more ink. Unfortunately I don't know if any high capacity version of the 342 cartridges are larger or not. Might be worth checking in store at somewhere like Staples over the weekend before ordering online.

Hi, sorry just had me tea lol... Yes used both companies, definitely recommend both.

Before you do that, have you considered a continuous ink system (CIS)? If you use a lot of ink then I can recommend one.

I have a Canon Pixma 8500i and I was really hurting at the ink price (8 cartridges). I now have 8 reservoirs standing beside the printer and a simple ribbon of ink lines going into the machine. The ink costs a fraction of the Canon stuff, it works very well with photos (and you can buy profiles for your photo paper if you're especially fussy).

Over the long term, it's the cheapest way to buy ink, because the refills come in bottles which you just pour into the reservoirs. No mess if you're careful and takes a few minutes.
