Problem with Acer Aspire One ZG5

Found 22nd Jan 2011
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition onto my netbook and when I restarted my netbook my screen went dead. It's just black! Screen does not come on no more for some reason? But Netbook turns on - Hardrive sounds normal ect.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

When you switch it on. do you get the chance to get into the setup - the Bios etc? If you can change boot order so that it boots off USB then have Ubuntu on it and see if it reads that ok.

Did you do a complete install or an alongside Windows one?

Common problem with AA1's you'll need to blind flash the bios, only takes a minute and is very easy to do.

Take a look here.

Yep, has happened to mine 3 times. Very simple to recover as DVS_Dee says - and you don't lose anything (i was paranoid the first time I did it!) Is annoying and you need a a spare usb stick - though i think the first time i only had an SD card and that also worked... but i might be wrong!

To tell you thr truth I have no idea what that is trying to say to me ( The article) I guess it's a case of being confused.com

That guide tells you exactly what to do and only has about two steps, just follow it. Does it display on an external screen?

I don't need to do this, but looks extremely easy to do. I hope the OP follows this through.

Yeah it's just a matter of downloading files, copying them to a usb drive, plugging it into the netbook & holding down a few buttons while you power it up....simples!
