    Problems with router supplied by Virgin

    Anyone else have problems with laptop and Xbox disconnecting and reconnecting randomly to router DIR-615 supplied by Virgin?

    Yes I have been noticing it for the last two days. Planning to give Virgin a call tomorrow.

    How long have you had yours for? I have had mine for a while but I never bothered trying to sort it out because it was only a minor annoyance with the laptop but when it keeps happening on my Xbox its driving me mad! lol.

    Ive had the same, really annoying lag on xbox and random supply via the pc, keep us posted if you do call mate Ive gotta work 2mrw and won't get the opportunity to call

    Yep same here had mine well over a year now and get sick of rebooting the router and hearing my son moaning as he gets booted from live all the time.

    Yup same here. I think I am going to call Virgin as they are the first people to call me if I miss paying the bill yet they are providing sub standard equipment to me.

    I will ring tomorrow and post the results of what they say in this thread

    av just fitted the new home hub they have , well its just a router/modem in one !!!!! its really good

    no i phoned up and threatend to end my contract if they did not give me it , i got the hub and upgraded from 10 meg to 20 meg to stay with them , if you threaten to leave they give you anything!!!!

    its worth doing , my internet is super fast now , even got a free v+ HD box for the bedroom and free multi room for a year

    Same here with issues. The supplied router resets my internet a fair bit, even worse if I try to download. Downloading something will make it loose connection every few minutes.

    I feel that its pointless to call VM. Previous experience calling them - Wait 10 minuets, get a South Asian that seems to only had training to read the PC screen in front of them, if resetting your router does not work they just send out a engineer, who in turn blames my settings, even if it was factory default.

    I have tried everything possible on my end of the line. Just don't know what to do at this point.

    why not fork out for one if it is causing this much time & hassle? My £10 router works fine.

    Go on the virgin forum, someone comes back to you within minutes.

    I would move away from VM but all other BB seems higher in price. Is it true that places like Sky and O2 require you to have an active (paying monthly charge) BT phone line ?. I do have a BT line (have VM and BT) but I am unsure if it works.

    That modem router looks good. Seems a lot better than the rubbish netgear one I have. I wish I had the balls to go through cancelling my account to see if they would replace the netgear with the all in one. Currently have basic home phone,10 Mb BB with router and basic TV at £25 pm. But it seems you only get the router free if you are a new member. Shame that they don't advertise that they want to keep customers happy.
    Playing online games is so annoying with the disconnected only to be online in 2 minuets then off again in 5 and back on in.......

    yeah, active BT line required

    just call VM on 151 and ask for retentions and cancel as router isnt fit for purpose. They'll soon send you out a better one. You have 30 days to cancel your cancellation anyway if they dont budge.

    i am so **** off with the disconnects while on xbox live and crap range for the wifi,
    luckily my year will be up in about 3 month so off to BE i will go
