Protaras in Cyprus - anybody been recently?

    Hi all,

I am off for a family wedding to protaras in Cyprus in three weeks, staying at the odessa hotel, and I just wondered if anybody here had been recently, and perhaps had an idea of the price of beer and which bars etc are best?

    thanks!

i went about 8 year ago had a great time, not sure on prices, but alot of friendly little bars

    Definitely venture into Ayia Napa.
Will be 1 of the best nights out you'll have
    PLENTY of bars n clubs.
If ur going for the night, Bedrocks is good (karaoke) but a good vibe in there, titanic is good but you should end up in Castle club, quality.
Really depends on what music you like but there's something for most people there

im off to Napa in 13 days :w00t: cant wait i iz goingz to get fooooooked

Was there 32 years ago..lovely place. Small village..not much to do. Bit different now - no orange groves. Stavros Bros stil have the Fig Tree bay franchise I see though.:p

Area is lovely..lots to do and beaches that are fab. Ayia Napa is a bit 'busy' for what i want..hey ho..I am getting on...

I stayed in the Odessa last August... nice hotel. Can't comment on drinks prices as we went AI. We got a ground floor SC room with a small porch which backed onto one of the surrounding Tsokkos establishments which was nice.

You're smack bang in the centre of Protaras activity wise, the beach is just down over the grass from the hotel. There is mini golf and lots of acitvities nearby - make sure you go and see the Magic Dancing Waters - it's great.

The main street is just behind this shot...

fantastic thanks for the pics etc, my wife asked if there are fridges in the room as standard as some places say you have to pay extra for them? is fig tree bay beach that much better than the one right near the hotel? what was the transfer like? rep added!

transfers take 90-120 minutes but its a pleasant beach road most of the way.

We did have a fridge.. although it wasn't turned on. I guess it comes as part of the Self Catering package. We just used it to store stuff in. I'm not too sure if they are in every room.

The beaches sort of just merge into eachother, if you look at that photo the Odessa lawns start just to the right of that windmill, the Constantinos the Great in the background is next door. It's really nice. (The beach and the constantinos :p)

We hired a car from the start this year, but I've done a coach transfer before to Pernera (the small resort which is slightly to the north but there is a nice new path between the two, although I don't know if it is fully open yet), and it takes about an hour or maybe 90 minutes depending on drop offs etc.

Yep if you go to the bottom of the town towards the harbour, there's some traffic lights. Turn right and it's just up there (past maccy D's) on the left.
The other one is up a bit further on the right.
Only been to the 1st one but had a great time lol.
It was THE most relaxed lap dance club ive ever been to.
Don't know if it was because i was with my GF but they kep givin us free drinks!!!!
We were there bout 3 hours and only bought 1 drink!
Admittedly i had 3 dances but still bloody good value for money lol
