I take it you bought some kind of usb adapter for ps2 controller to connect to pc.

Have you tried connecting the controller to other usb ports? unplugging all other usb devices? other computers?
A typical problem with laptop is that the usb ports don't have enough power and have problems connecting to certain devices. If you have 2 sets of usb port, the set in the back is usually the one with the most power. Generally laptop usb ports have around 500mA, which is fine for most usb devices. it's probably has something to do with the controller itself then.

The Logitech Rumble Pad 2 is a good controller. I was going to get that but it was out of stock from play.com and I couldn't find a better price, so I opted for the xbox usb adapter option since I had a few old xbox controllers around the house. Another one I considered was in fact the xbox 360 controller at about the same price range.

From the reviews I have seen, they are both equally as good, it's really depend if you prefer the ps2 controller (i.e. Logitech Rumble pad 2), or xbox 360 controller. :whistling:
