PS2 slim remote?

Remotes for the PS2 slimline seem to be difficult to find. It has its own IR receiver and works with my Logitech Harmony but I want to use move it to the bedroom for watching DVDs in bed.

The original PS2 remote came with a receiver that plugs into the controller port, but will this slimline work without the receiver as it has one built in? Or are they completely different receivers? I don't really want to have a receiver plugged in all the time.

I still have the remote for my PS2 slim even though I sold it, forgot to include it when I got rid of it all!

My remote had no receiver that you had to plug in, as far as I was aware the PS2 slims had the receiver buitl in, or something... Hope that helps!

Yep pretty sure they're the same remote. Check Gamestation if you have one near you....mine had loads of pre-owned ones the other week for 99p

They are definitely NOT the same remote, only the newer version works on the slimline. The remotes packaging lists which models they work with (i.e. SCPH-XXXX, it's SCPH-70003 for the slimline iirc) so be careful.

I was in John Lewis the other day and saw the newer (slimline compatible) remotes for about £4.
