I hope for the sake of vr gaming it's a success, hopefully not another vita. I'll probably wait for the next gen of a pc version and evaluate the progress of the game development then before investing

I don't intend to buy one as I have an Oculus Rift but it needs to be a success to make VR mainstream. Vr is lacking in content across the board. It looks like those with a Pro might end up with a better experience making it a tiered service which is a shame.

    How is the rift?

Game had a deal where you could finance one for 14% Apr 2 year contract.

But was unsure I'd use it much or be worth the cost.

    ...or PlayStation TV.
    ...or PlayStation Move.
    ...or Xperia PLAY.
    ...or PSPgo.

The ps vr looks cool, but I'll hold out. A price drop is needed on the full setup.
Went past a cex and now the movement controllers were £8 and now £30 used.

The games all look like demo experiences. Some seem to last upto 2 hours, price points being fair. But length of games just seem to not cause me to be excited.

I've tried a gear vr and found most games were over priced for what you get. With minecraft VR being the only game that feels like a game, and not just an experience.

The ps vr big screen mode does sound entertaining. But it's pricey for what it'll do, and I'm unsure how well it'll do with its screen resolution and how close the display is to your face.

I'll wait for a full AAA gaming experience is introduced, something with 10+ hours of story, before I dive properly into a vr world.

that doesn't sound like an economical way to buy it, try interest free credit card, or some other 0% way like very.

yes I agree, the games don't look close to AAA yet, which is where they'll need to get. there's a military fps on pc, will be interesting to see if they can match or exceed it. could easily imagine a killzone vr game, especially after they had the move sharpshooter for killzone 3(I think) on ps3

The rift is fantastic you do get a real sense of immersion. Project cars and Dirt Rally being amongst the best games I have played so far. The overall best experience I have had was not a game at all -Apollo 11. You get to take part in the first moon landing. It's the whole experience from take off to the moon walk itself. You even get to experience re-entry in the capsule.
You just have to be careful with motion sickness.
VR games will have to be designed differently. I don't think a traditional fps would work at all. Using a thumbstick to move around can make you feel very sick.
Eve Valkyrie looks fantastic but has no substance. Adr1ft is definitely worth a look it's like being in the movie gravity but again only in short bouts due to sickness.
I worry that a lot of people who have pre-ordered the PSVR are not aware of VR sickness. You cannot play it all day.

Watched the digital foundry video on it today.

Nausea is still the huge problem, until there is a solution VR just a gimmick imo.

That's what my issue was with the Gear Vr, one major reason why it spends it's time in a draw.

The motion sickness I get, seems to last most of the day. That's with just experiencing anything from 2mins to half hour in the VR. But I will admit I was standing up in most of my testing.

Having a 360 swivel chair in an open space may solve it. I've just not had the time to give it a proper go.

I'll probably hold off on the Rift as well. It sounds like an amazing piece of kit, but I just fear it'll be a £550 paper weight for me.

That's also my worry, there'll be a lot of disappointed people who preordered the PSVR. Luckily enough I got to test the Gear VR to know I can't handle VR immersion properly.

A mobile phone VR experience will never come close to what you get with a Rift or Vive. Sometimes VR sickness can be caused by a bad frame rate for instance so you need a powerful PC to maintain a constant 90fps at the least. Just take it easy at first.

I take it from the comment you have not tried it then?
Reserve judgement for when you have experienced it.
Maybe you can visit that ward via VR instead.

I thought the human eye couldn't see over 45fps or something like that?

Minecraft VR plays really well on the Gear Vr/S6edge, no lag, motion tracking is close to 100%. It's the false information your eyes are telling your body, that you are moving, when you aren't.
It's this that makes you feel motion sickness, a sense of dizziness.

Vr is really an amazing concept. I'm loving the idea of the remote VR sets, and having a Green screen building, to project what ever you want via the headset's camera, as you adventure through.

Anyway, spamming this because there is a thread all about VR here.

if you game on pc and try 144hz gaming, you'll probably realise there is a very perceptible difference going back to 60hz, plus I think it has come to be agreed within the industry that 90fps is required to avoid motion sickness, hence why Sony, who normally don't venture above 60fps on ps4, have had to push up to at least 90fps, which will be detrimental to the other aspects of their graphics

    Just like 3d... A gimmick.

I think age has finally caught up with me. I feel more excitement opening a brand new, pristine box of Yorkshire tea bags than I do looking at this.

Nothing clever about it, just the last box I hadn't were very nice. Maybe I shouldn't have tried the hard water bags. Drinking PG Tips now.

    Maybe this might help engadget.com/201…ea/

Think I'm gonna hold off for now, had it pre ordered but after mediocre reviews and also using funds for a new gaming PC and Xbox one S, I think I'll just wait and see if this takes off. Batman VR & London heist look amazing but for now that's the only games that interest me.
