    Qualifications Help.

Just wondering if there is anyone in here thats been part of a careers advice company, or know what people can do with qualifications?

Basically, I'm sat here looking at minimum wage jobs (ones that don't require qualifications) even though I have quite a few qualifications under my belt because I'm not sure what jobs I can actually do with them.

I will list these qualifications if theres anyone that thinks they could help...

    Cheers

My local station hardly ever recruit.

I should make it clear that I have applied for Lancashire Constabulary, got to the 2nd Final Interview stage and was failed for being too young and told to come back at the age of 21.

I am now in the process of becoming a Police Constable with Greater Manchester Police, currently passed the initial paper-sift stage and waiting for the next news.

No, I'm not relying on the police after my last attempts at Lancashire, I need to find a career as a fall back plan. It could be another year before I get into the police if all things go well.

I guess the real question is what would you like to do? and are you willing to move away from your current location to get it? Cos there will be places around the country maybe not too far from you who are recruiting, eg Fire and Police. Have you considered becoming a special constable to aid your applications? What about a driving job? There are always companies who need van drivers

I applied for a job in my local job centre the other week, not heard nothing back yet though so I'm not holding my breath.

I'm looking for a IT based career I suppose, I wouldn't mind working in an office environment but my qualifications don't really set me apart from other people going for office work.

The Army gained qualifications - Im not well up on this but are any of them equivalent to gcse's or anything?

Don't you have to be within a 5 minute radius from the station though? I live in Padiham, would take around 10-15 minutes to get to the Nelson station.

I was told that the Application of Number qualification is the equivalent to a C in GCSE Maths.

try a recruitment agency, and gain office experiance that way. If potential employers see that you have IT/Office experiance they are more likely to offer you a job.

This is only for the retained fire fighters - if you join the county's fire brigade full time, it doesnt matter where you live

I guess its worth trying, I'm currently on the job centre website everyday looking at everything thats available. Alot of people seem to be going for office based jobs though - and with me not having the experience everyone else seems to have - its pretty hard.

First, have confidence in yourself.
Then, when you have an interview, or even just filling in an application, be positive - about yourself, your abilities and about what you have achieved so far.
    Good luck.

    Male escort?

Not being funny, a guy in my gym does this. He gets paid ~£50 per night, plus an extra £50-£100 if he sleeps with them.

Most of the women just want a guy to go to a party with or whatever and his agency don't encourage guys who join up just for sex.

He makes about £1000-£1500 a month from it.

I've got my theory next thursday at Preston, if I pass that, my instructor said to phone him and he'll book my practical.

put your CV onto Monster.co.uk and associated recruitment agencies, they will find something for you, and its free. Make sure you have a kick ass CV too, and maybe add a personal statement at the top.

At both Lancashire and GMP I recieved a letter telling me they had recieved my application form and would let me know in due course. At Lancashire I then recieved a phone call telling me I had passed the papersift and a date for the assessment centre, and GMP I recieved a letter telling me I had passed.

If you pass or fail the intial stage, they will let you know. It just takes a long time, can't put a date on it but expect at least 2-3 months to hear back from your application form.

2-3 months jesus, well I haven't even got a call/letter to say they have received my application but I hand delivered it

What about something like a sports trainer, gym worker, life guard, something in that field? You've definitely got all the skills for something like that (except maybe forklifting might not be needed), and all of these jobs would also build on your It skills to get you more senior jobs down the line.

    Good luck anyways

I've thought about those, I've thought about going for my tennis coaching qualifications, but academies aren't anywhere to be found around here, but its something I want to do in life. Lifeguarding would interest me aswell as theres always the option of going abroad too.
