Question about paypal, am I covered?

Im about to buy something from someone (not on here or ebay). Will I still be covered if the seller doesn't send the item? It's only £27.99 but just wanted to check that I wont get scammed.
Thanks for any help.

on the item page it would say covered by paypal if its covered.

i think ebay nowadays gives purchase protection on all items upto 150£ if the auction is paid for using paypal.

Yes/No. But if they send something tracked and it's not what you bought you'll get screwed. Also if they clear their account of funds and don't send, you'll get screwed

Its not through ebay. Thats why im not sure, if it was I could leave neg feedback etc but I don't know what the policy is with just sending the money directly to them. The seller has asked if I will email them so they can send me an invoice. Just wanted to check that I'm covered?

Why didn't you buy it through eBay? Seems a big risk to send that much money.

Its from the uk. He had an item listed on ebay but I missed the auction so contacted him to say that I really wanted it, he emailed back saying that he had another and offered it to me (at a higher price) I really want it so we settled on a price. I've agreed but only if he sends it recorded delivery. Seams alright to me as long as he agrees with the delivery.

get him to relist it on ebay, maybe send him an extra couple of quid to cover the fee's. whats his feedback like, does he mainly sell on ebay?

sounds like a scam. get him to relist it or walk away.
