Hi guys I have a few questions about the iPhone. I would be grateful if someone could answer. The questions apply to the 2G iphone not the 3G one, although feel free to apply them to both.

1. Everyone talks about paying for internet on the iphone, but if you are using a private router and already paying for ISP charges, isn't it free to use internet on the iPhone?

2. Can 2G iPhones be upgraded to firmware 2.0 and unlocked now that firmware 2.0 has been released?

1) Internet is free as long as your within the space where your router can send a singal too. So at home, teh internet is totally free. However, when out and about, if a free wi-fi signal is unavailable, then people use the internt package provided by their network provider in order to go online. I know vodafone do something like unlimited time online, wherever you are for £7.95 a month i think.

Not too sure about the second quesiton, as i sold my iPhone a couple of months ago so am a bit behind.

=)

2) The iphone 2g can be upgraded to firmware 2.0, and the firmware has been unlocked. The tool to do this (if it hasn't already) should be released soon

One more thing, if you get 2.0 and unlock it on your 2G iphone, can you still get all the functionality life AppStore etc?

cool, i'd say its more worthwhile getting a 2G iphone than 3G when the prices plummet. 3G is not worth the amount of money it costs when compared to the 2G unlocked.

But it won't have the GPS if you stay with the 2G. Wireless access is great when you live in a big city but if you can't don't and can't jump on to wireless the 3G is the only way to go.
