Questions about tesco grocery online

When do they take payment ? when you place the order or when it has been delivered.

I know asda take a holding amount when you order it , then take the actual amount when it gets delivered.. and i know sainsbiry just take the amount on the morning of delivery....

they take it when they have picked your shopping instore , they authorize your card £2 for some reason when you order then the order amount when its been picked

I've only shopped online with them once.They took my payment out the day after it was delivered.

they take it before it goes on the delivery van , thats why when there is subsitutes you dont want he refunds them. its taken before anything leaves the store or they would be chasing for decllined cards forever and a day

Same here. They take payment once it has been picked and scanned through the till as that generates the amount to be debited. It also means that if there are problems with the credit card, they try and phone you before the delivery time to rectify it so that you can pay with an alternative card and still get your shopping. I know as I worked for tesco grocery in their call centre.

It also explains why, when for some reason, they haven't got you in and you phone them up to get it redelivered another day, they charge your card again as it all has to go back through the till to get a new total for that day! It takes them upto 5 days to refund the first amount! Unfair but that's how they operate! It's all in the terms and conditions!

I have used them all. they are all the same. Take payment after its been through the checkout on the delivery date. I thought this fact was obvious as they cant bill until they know what is in stock and being delivered!
