    quick boil kettles

Thinking of buying one of those quick boil single cup kettle things for my father, he's disabled and i thought it would be quick useful for him to make himself tea when we're not around to help.

Had a look and trying to decide between the "Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup with Variable Dispense" and the "Morphy Richards 43922 Meno Heat and Dispense Unit".

any opinions on which is best? or are there any other better ones i haven't yet found?

    thanks

my mum and dad have the breville and are really happy with it my dads a real tea lover so thinks a instant cuppa is amazing...lol

They don't quite get to boiling point so ok for coffee but not great for tea.

I have this kettle link to and it boils really fast, a little heavy though

Look at the Eco Kettle's ... very good IMO.

Anything with a 3 KW output would do a rapid boil.

We have a Breville hot cup and its the bees knees.
They are overpriced for what they are but they do occasionally come on offer, we paid 24.99 a few months ago.
The water is certainly hot enough to make tea, it takes about 2 mins to make each cup and I would say that these devices are ideal for those who might struggle with a kettle of boiling water. If you ignore the purchase price then they are also very economical to run as obviously they boil just a cupful of water.
An ideal present for either an elderly or infirm person, also for any body who's a bit of a skinflint

In light of the post below I just timed a cup and it was 50sec, not the 2mins I said above, cripes looks like I'm going senile now...

The newer version of the Tefal Quick Cup is fantastic, I picked up a brand new one on ebay for £18 a few months back

have a look on the gadget show website, they did a feature on kettles a while back

We have the Breville Hot Cup too. It does boil and each cup takes much less than a minute.

    thanks for the replys folks

although my father can pick up a kettle, the idea is to make it easy so the button dispenser is more important than it being a "rapid boil" kettle.

i think im leaning towards the breville, like the style more also
now to find the best deal!

    thanks

Got the Breville a couple of weeks ago for preparing baby bottles, highly recommended.

    WE GOT THIS

its noisy but so so awesome!

Any kettle will boil just a cup full of water, just fill the cup, pour it in to the kettle, switch it on.

This gimmick type kettle is no good for making tea, they do not boil water.

The point is convenience. It only boils how much you need therefore you save yourself refilling the kettle every time you use it. The Breville does indeed boil the water.

You still have to empty the drip tray, and it takes up twice as much space as a standard kettle, as well as costing twice as much, pure gimmick.

Are you making this up as you go along? You only empty the drip tray if you're in the habit of spilling your tea - and even then it has enough room for an entire cup. If you don't normally spill your tea over your counter you should be fine.
It's about the same size as most kettles.
    Anything else?
