Quick question about Gym Membership if I may?

Are they pretty much all the same price? Or is there such a thing as a 'Deal' on membership?

I have a Virgin and an LA Fitness near me and was wondering if the cost of them is negotiable or if there are deals or what not on these such things? I have NEVER been to a gym in my life... GULP!!

Thanks so much for any help

Im not too sure about the membership offers...I am a member of Virgin and sometimes they knock off the membership fee....might be worth asking them to do it and if not wait until there is an offer on....alo if you know someone else at a virgin one, put their name on the application and they get some freebies (of which they can of course share with you:p) I personally love virgin because when I was looking around for membership they had the nicest surroundings and imo the best spa for the price. Also my dad is a member as he regularly travels around the UK and membership at one gym allowes you into every other one in the country except 2 in central London i think. ooooo and also some gyms dont include the price of classes...virgin does, dont know about the other one.
Any questions about the gym feel free to ask...although it has been a while since i have visited

    edit...
as far as i know virgin offers set tariffs for membership...so I dont think they would negotiate on the actual monthly fee...

A lot of gyms around in London and many will offer a free trial period of a couple weeks /Months e.g. Golds
suggest you approach them tell em your a novice and want to try out before commiting and see who will offer you that facility. My friend came over from Canada and stayed a fortnight and used the gym on a free trial while he was here,it was a gym in Uxbridge. As they say nothing ventured .......

+1...I think virgin do this....also seen as how you are a novice, check if you need to pay for the induction, virgin do it for free, also a consultation type thing with an instructor where you say what you want to do (i.e lose weight, tone up, build muscle) and they create a plan (saved to a 'key' thing) which tells you what piece of equipment to go on next and also presets all the equipment so you dont need to fiddle around with them

Dont do it...save yourself while you can....We've all been there...signed up for a gym used it for the first few months and then slowly but surely we stop using the facilities and then trying to cancel is like getting blood out of a stone.
