Just use TCB for this one, it's their loss

I bet someone's getting a rollicking at Quidco HQ.

That's enough about you, what's your take on the OP's problem? X)

Basic cashback TCB is nearly always better anyway. Quidco shines on their promos, but this is a bit weak.

I'm all but certain it's a traffic issue. It sure as onions isn't planned maintenance.

As to the cause, I would guess they have gone with a scalable service but not on a premium tier, and they are getting eaten alive by everyone higher up the food chain doing their Black Friday thang.

at least their twitter team see the funny side of it, not a day to have server issues

The fact the filename for the monkey is "qco-overload-maintenance-logo.png" probably corroborates that

Its a server issue as posted on their twitter website. Poor social media staff are facing the wrath
    of customers.

They're running on Amazon Cloudfront and S3 and probably EC2, I'd be surprised if that wasn't scaling properly. Even their images weren't loading earlier, which is difficult to cause with traffic. Homepage is a 502... who knows.

Depending on the service level they've taken, prioritizing some customers over others is the service scaling properly.

I must admit, their twitter feed has been pretty good... Thumbs up to their social media team, at least it's not getting them down and they can have a laugh about it (whilst still being sorry).

That would not take 6 hours to fix.

still down just before 6pm. was Black Friday really that much bigger online this year in UK then last to cause such an outage?

TCB's better. Only used Quidco to get the £10 once, TCB overall offers a better UI, customer service and %s though this one is subjective.

    TCB always tracks.

Nah it seems like the servers were blown up, it was that bad on Quidco yesterday

If they are on cloud service then capacity is scalable depending on service levels, but for a fixed assets capacity cloud service, it is likely it could not cope with every service bursting to peaks at the same time but there is just one database server , no?

had to put a claim in for that
Agree TCB do seem to track better not sure about the CS
the new TCB auto logout is a bit OTT IMO

Anyway they are back up as normal now
and even sent any email apology hmmm
