What is Quidco Premium?

It’s a brand new higher tier of Quidco membership designed to provide the most comprehensive means of earning cashback anywhere on the web.

Including enhanced features aimed at speeding up the cashback payment process and improving access to our customer service team it’s free to join for both existing and new members. As we’ve always done we simply retain the first £5 of your annual cashback earnings.

Based on valuable member feedback we’ve also created a Basic level of Quidco membership which is completely free to use (there’s no retention fee!) while still offering you the chance to earn cashback with over 3,500 retailers.

not sure the point of creating something "new"... what about the customers who have been paying the 5 for years?

speeding up the payment of cashback
improving access to customer services

is this a joke?

So what are your thoughts?

Use Top Cash Back
Use Top Cash Back, they'll always match whatever quidco offer and are far more reliable.......... and are free.

Well, it looks like im already a premium user and i didn't even know.
TopCashBack is the way to go.

Quidco priced themselves out of the market a long time ago.
Do Quidco treat these customers with less contempt than ordinary members?

Somehow, they will find a way.

Believe.
paying for cashback services which are available free elsewhere?! really?!
unless they deliberately deny cashback..... only a few mugs will pay this 'premium'

I guess it comes down to whether Quidco Premium can promise significantly quicker cashback payouts than TCB. If they just stretch out free members even longer then I will go fully to TCB.
I've only ever used Quidco out of habit really. Time to look at its rivals by the look of it
I have just logged in to downgrade mine to basic but it won't let me until my renewal date.
why would you ever want to downgrade anyway ?, and paying £5 a year from free money is no problem anyway, i have got £1000's from quidco the last 6 years or so.

TCB all the way for me

I just don't understand why they don't accept minor advertising like TCB does, clearly Quidco is massive and they can easily recoup the £5 fee with advertising space, rather than losing out to their rivals.

Not sure if everyone in the thread (except Money Spinning) has missed the main point:

Admin, on the day of my membership renewal will I get a notification email asking me if I want to renew my premium or downgrade to basic?

But still at a rate less than others, including Topcashback.
Also, with less payment and bonus potential.
Oh my, "TCB IS FREE USE THAT" Quidco bring out a free membership and still complainers, Jesus.

Admin my question is, if we're already part way through the year of you taking my £5, and I switch to basic, will it stay premium until my year is up? Or do you take the £5 at the end, if so is it pro-rata?

I'll probably stick to premium anyway. Prefer Quidco over TCB even when you had the fee.
I notice Quidco now have Amazon cashback, which is a big plus, right? I have always used Quidco, only because of how horrid orange and green look together.

@Money Spinning - Not sure if a notification is sent, I think you have to keep track but check with Quidco.

@Dehumanization - You can only change to Basic at your 'anniversary'. Again, check with Quidco directly though as to how they handle it.

@ampdewd - Yep 5% Amazon cashback in several departments.

Improved access to customer services is certainly a joke! I have had a browser window open for the past 10-15 minutes waiting for a response of some kind from them. All I want to do is downgrade to basic but the site won't let me until 2 months from now.

I just had the same issue, waited 15-20 minutes for an operator, was told I can downgrade via a support ticket but you are forced into choosing a retailer when contacting Quidco and in this case that is not relevant, I just chose AA in the end!
I know this is off topic but i have £50 cashback with a casino which was tracking almost 5 months ago and now they are no longer on quidco but the cashback is still showing as tracked and estimated to be confirmed by April 26th. Would it still be given or will the tracked cashback just disappear?
Why would you want to downgrade anyways?

I see no extra advantage.

It's free!
I have both, QB & TCB but I'm sticking to most of my shops with TCB like I have for the past few years. QC stinks is all I can say. If QC trys to pull a fast one, a higher CB rate then I'll get TCB to match it.
I'm going to contact them to see how I can change to a basic membership so I no longer have to pay the £5 charge a year. Thought the email they sent was a bit cheeky saying I'm now a premium member but giving no option to change this.
Just realised if you go into 'settings' on Quidco and then account type, you can change your account type in there. I've just downgraded to basic so we'll see what difference this makes to the service you get.

You can't downgrade until your next renewal.

Renewal 24th April, think I'll downgrade. Never had much of an issue with quidco beyond the speed of payments and the annual fiver. Have set up Chrome as a separate browser just for quidco transactions
I'm unable to access my account until I agree to new T&Cs, no option to go to the basic one instead. Seems unfair to be forced across.

oh i see.... but like i say i dont get it.....

if thats the main point, why are you not just downgrading everyone to the basic (FREE) membership and leaving it up to the individual if they want to use the 'premium' service instead of forcing it upon people?

+1

THIS IS HOW YOU REMOVE QUIDCO'S ANNUAL RIP-OFF £5 FEE.....

1. Login to your quidco account then click on

https://www.quidco.com/settings/account-type/

click on DOWNGRADE to a basic account

no more rip-off £5 fee

note:topcashback is a better site anyway but some still use quidco

I expect a mod will be along soon to remove this post as previously posted it in freebies but a mod removed it

Why bother downgrading, when you can upgrade to topcashback for free?

The site won't let some people (like me) downgrade. It said I had to wait until June to downgrade.

Just had email confirmation that my account has been downgraded to Basic. Had to do it through a support ticket. I am guessing from the 20 minute wait for the web chat support to tell me to send a support ticket in that they have had a lot of complaints.

It's obvious why they have done it this way from a business point of view but it isn't very good for the customers.

Won't it be because you've either signed up recently, or already paid the £5 for this year?
For a service I've used for years and gets me around £500 back annually I think £5 is worth it. Yes free alternatives but I prefer Quidco.

Been signed up for a few years. Probably already paid the £5 for this year but I would rather be down on basic and not have to mess with it in 2 months to change it or get charged again.
Edited by: "CyDoNiA" 16th Apr 2013
Interestingly, on the quidco blog regarding this change I've twice posted the question 'if TCB can do this for free why can't you?' and both times the post has been removed! I honestly can't see any advantage of quidco over TCB and I've used them both for a few years now...TCB generally have a slightly higher cashback and don't charge the £5!

...I think I'll downgrade now as they've refused to answer the above question...mainly because there isn't any logical answer!!
