    Quidco - problems connecting

    Is anyone else having problems with quidco?

    I can't connect to

    Three mobile
    Play
    Morethan

    and those are just the ones i've tried!

    I can get onto some sites (Boots and next) but not the ones I want.

    Is there anything I can do?

    Just tried play.com, and it was fine. Have you changed settings or anything on your PC? Installed any new programs?

    The same thing has happened to me. I noticed it when I tried to click through to Carphone Warehouse. I have had long discussions with Quidco about it, raised a ticket with them and they were very helpful, replying to every message and asking me to try lots of different things. But nothing fixed it and they couldn't figure out what the problem was.
    I downloaded Mozilla Firefox to try and use that for Quidco but it still didn't work. There are certain links I just can't use.
    You will also notice it here, on HUKD. Say you try to click through to a deal on Play, you will not be able to do it, you'll get the same error you are getting now.
    Glad to know I'm not the only one this happened to - bur very very sorry that it has happened to you, it is very frustrating.

    Actually, why don't you raise a query with Quidco so they know that it is happening to others. If you want to PM me I'll give you my Quidco nickname - you can mention me to them in your query if you like. The guy who helped me was called Mark.

    That sounds likely to be the problem. I can get on "three" fine.

    In trying to fix my problem I disabled all firewalls and antivirus software and that still didn't fix it. I hadn't changed any settings on my computer before the problem started (I'm not technical enough to do that).

    Yes, my ISP is AOL as well. But I don't use any of their software, I merely use them to connect.
    The links are something to do with BA merchants - this is a quote from one of the replies by Mark :-

    I'm the same in that I was accessing all merchants no problem and using them as well with everything tracking fine, then suddenly that was it, they just stopped working.

    We're the same - we don't use the software either - only use them to connect. I've literally tried a dozen links in the last half hour and can connect to only three of them. Ones I can't inlcude three,play, tesco, next, more than, john lewis and others that I can't remember. My other half says to try connecting via another wireless network if you can find one. I know this is strictly not allowed but just as a quick experiment. Unfortunately I can't find one here at the mo.

    When did it go wrong? Could you use system reset or goback, to before the fault? This will tell you if it's anything you've installed ....
    You could always restore to today if that doesn't solve it.

    I have a second hard drive on my pc. I switched over to that to make a purchase the other day. The link worked, but the purchase has not tracked at all - that was with Play.com.

    Yes, you can go to them as normal, but not by clicking through from another website.

    yep - can see them no problem when via internet explorer so it isn't that the web isn't connecting or that the connection is dropping

    It's been restored to Feb 1st but still not resolved the problem. I first noticed it 2 or 3 weeks ago when trying to get an insurance quote from More Than. I assumed there was a problem with them and quidco as I could access other sites no problem but since then it's affecting more and more suppliers. The problem connecting via this site has only been for the past few weeks too - i've never had a problem before. I'm a bit technically challenged so my OH does everything with the PC and the only thing that's any different is the security protection. Very annoying to say the least. Thanks for trying to help though - I appreciate it.

    That's interesting about the system restore. My pc wouldn't let me restore that far back, but my problems started around the beginning of Feb. I bought something from Tesco Mobile PAYG (you'll probably find they're not working either) and it didn't track and that is how I noticed my problem. I have copied another excerpt from my conversation with Mark :-

    Hello Mark. I opened up Norton Anti-Virus and went into 'Options' then … Hello Mark. I opened up Norton Anti-Virus and went into 'Options' then unticked 'Enable Auto Protect'. Auto Protect is now off (the icon in the system tray at the bottom right now has a little red circle with a white cross on it, indicating it is switched off. I also unticked 'Enable Script Blocking'. But my links are still not working. I have also turned off my Firewall. In ZoneAlarm I turned 'Internet Zone Security' and 'Trusted Zone Security' to OFF, and it now says "Caution! Firewall is off"! But my links are still not working. Regarding the enquiry for Tesco PAYG - when I carried out the transaction on 2 February the link was working, because I used it to make the purchase. A few days later I wondered why it had not tracked so I tried to raise an enquiry. My transaction appeared in the drop down list as I went throught the steps but it told me I wasn't allowed to raise the enquiry until 4 March. I tried again on 1 March to raise an enquiry and it allowed me to, except this time my transaction did not appear in the drop down list; and Tesco Mobile PAYG is one of the links that I can't get through to.     Just going to add myself into the "can't earn much cashback, as I can only use some merchants" pile.

    I raised this issue with quidco a week back and they simply said that they had checked and it seemed ok and I needed to check my firewall. I am also on AOL but simply use it like any other broadband connection, I use wifi and a router to connect.

    Interestingly I work on a Mac and experience the exact same problem in either Firefox or Safari, its been around for about a month, and it drives me crazy. With quidco it only has a problem with merchant links which end in blahblah.at and not the doubleclick ones,for example...

    Gameplay - works fine...
    Game.co.uk - doesn't work at all.

    Hopeless! hopefully quidco can get onto the ".at" people and find out what we need to unblock exactly.

    This appears to be affecting more and more people now. It is definitely something to do with the ".at" group of merchants. The people at Quidco are obviously only hearing about this from one person at a time and nothing is appearing strange to them - it is all being attributed to firewalls and security settings. Is is possible for this to be raised with Quidco as a group?

    By 'router', do you mean the modem? I use the modem I was given by Onetel many years ago when I first got broadband.

    It can't be coincidence though that you all have AOL and the same problem. Well unlikely. Can you try a different internet connection if possible? If you have a laptop take it to a coffee shop and see if it works over wifi.

    No, sorry, I can't try mine anywhere else. I don't have a laptop, or even use a wireless connection!
