Old? It's practically prehistoric. I think the GPU at the centre of that card is something like six years old now. The problem is that the card's just too old to understand the modern code, and the developers of the games you're trying to play haven't written alternative code to support older hardware. It would've been pointless to even try it, since it'd cost a lot of money and not produce much in the way of a result anyway.

Just buy yourself a new AGP graphics card. The format is pretty much dead now, but you can still get some decent hardware for fairly cheap, like around £30.

Try right clicking on the desktop shortcut and select
    run in 640 x 480
sometimes it is just a case of the res being wrong,

The 9800 is 6 years old now, the 8-series that the 9250 is based on is a couple of years older still.

And it is likely to be that it simply doesn't support the features needed to run newish games, sometimes you get an error message stating that but I guess those games don't have one.

Your motherboard won't take the more modern PCI-E cards but something like a a Radeon 3650 AGP version is up to date and would work. Make sure it's the AGP version though, as it comes in a more common PCI-E version as well.
