Hi, i've got a dodgy piece of ram in my pc and needs replacing, its a ddr3200, do i have to replace it with the same 3200 or can i get a different 1?

any bog standard 3200 can be bought, thought ou could probably get pc-2700 check the motherboard spec off the manufacters webby

2700 is slightly slower than 3200.
If you put a 2700 in, the 3200 will slowdown to match the 2700.

I would put another 3200 in.

Any DDR will work, but DDR2 and other types won't.

Speeds less than DDR400/PC3200 will slow down the memory transfer rate so DDR400 or faster is the best choice, although you're unlikely to find many faster ones these days (and if the stick is one of several they'll run at the slowest stick's speed).

Don't worry too much about the speeds, they're not going to make a great difference whether you get the next one up or down.
