Go to Crucial website, download the Ram tools, it will tell you which Ram the Mac is using.

I have always use Crucial with 8% cash back, very good products and services.

And 8Gb is in my opinion is a waste of money if you are not doing video editing.

Most daily taks including playing games, 4Gb is perfect

ahh icic, but the ram usage is always about 50%, is it bad for the laptop?

50% is not bad at all, plus the new Macbook Pro built is solid, I would not see any problems even if you play games for hours on it. I always run different programs simultaneously, including web designs software, listening to music simultaneously without any problems.

I have every models of MBP from Apple and they are always brilliant, I never upgraded to 8GB at all, apart from my Mini.

Because "the new Macbook Pro built is solid" then you don't need more … Because "the new Macbook Pro built is solid" then you don't need more ram, I think it's best that you buy Apple and keep the stupidity with the pretty cases. Also 50% ram usage [of 4GB] normally is not good at all, it's ridiculous. Crucial is often wrong aswell anyway.

Wow..I bet your PC always run less than 50% of RAM, and also if Crucial is wrong as you think, they would be out of business.

To OP: to upgrade to 8Gb, will cost £79.95

thank you so much heovang, sorry there was a typo. what i meant is always over 50%, like 70% most of the time to be honest. and if i do upgrade to 8 gb, how much do you think i can sell for my 2gb x 2? thanks again

Hi OP

The 4Gb Brand new is only £35 from Crucial themselves, so it will be a bit difficult to sell at that region I guess. But £30 sounds ok I guess

Mine is usually 70% too, has never gone above and I feel like it is struggling. I think that's because I'm running 32bit >.

What do you mean by ridiculous? As in low or high? I probably just use too many tabs but my computer RAM usage is usually much higher. By Crucial being wrong do you mean where they recommend RAM? *Worred* because I'm relying on that for getting more RAM for my PC (only have 2GB so it's struggling).

8GB does make a difference in a mac. Well worth it.

OSX must be extremely inefficient and bulky then.

All depends on what you are doing really doesn't it, when browsing the mac is not using that much, but the system tries to utilize as much ram as possible so when you are opening programs you don't have to wait too long. 8GB gives it more to play with.

£79.75 is an awful price. I bought the 8gb upgrade kit 2 months ago as I was in the same situation, Late 2011 MBP, and I paid £35ish from Crucial and installed myself/

How is it now £79.75?
