    Reasons you love being British!!

Just a positive thread about living in what I consider to be the greatest, most culturally-rich country on Earth with some of the best opportunities the world has to offer. Love to so many other places on Earth but there's nothing this country doesn't really offer.

    Go!

    I'll start.

Our music scene is unmatched across the globe. We have the best live venues, the best festivals and we lead the world in so many genres of music.

So many beautiful places and a rich mix of accents, cultures and traditions

I love the history, the historic sites, the scenery. My absolute fav is the drive from Carlisle to Scotland, it is breathtaking in my opinion.

We do have some utterly stunning drives and train journeys in this country.

I'd also add we have arguably the finest collection of museums in the world and a large number are free to the public. Nice to celebrate our history rather than lock it away.

We do have an amazing culture of sports in this country. The best league in the world, the second best rugby team, an amazing recent history in the Olympics etc.

We punch way above our weight in so many sports.

Our rich history of theatre is something I'm always stunned by. Not just some of the greatest plays and musicals of all time, but also some of the greatest theatres.

Sadly all the great things about being British are being taken away and eroded by multiculturalism. Destroying British traditions etc. Our Brexit vote reflects that.

    We're also world-class moaners X)

Of all the things listed above, I don't see any of them being eroded.

We're also world-class when it comes to comedy - maybe you should watch this.

Maybe rather than moaning you should get out there and experience all this great country has to offer. Then you'd see how what you were saying simply isn't true.

If you're into music then there's so much great live stuff out there. So many of our greatest museums are free now, and there's always a burgeoning arts scene which I'd argue has been enriched by multiculturalism.

Or just go for a meal at a great restaurant. Not to sound like the tourist board but amidst some people are so willing to be negative that they're willingly closing themselves off from the amazing things this country has to offer.

You're living in the greatest country on Earth at the most amazing point in history - indulge!

We know how to make a proper cup of tea, none of this lukewarm water with cream nonsense you get in the US.

    We have perfected sarcasm. Mostly.

When I was a wee lad we could leave our doors open and pop round to our neighbours and play with the their kids and be fed and looked after by said neighbours and we'd know the names of 3 or 4 houses either side and across the road. We'd look after each other in times of stress and need. Our streets would be kept clean (except for dog mess - laws have changed now) with only the odd fag butt or bit of litter stuck in the hedgerow because we were proud.
And the the caring helping attitude of people. Holding doors open for the ladies, helping people if they fell or had an accident. People, everyday people, would be respected and greeted with a smile. You could easily natter to the next person on the bus.
Popping round to nan's on a regular weekly visit and meeting up with your cousins and aunt's and uncles. And lets not forget the real Sunday roast - roast pork with cracklin, roast and mashed potato, spring cabbage and nobbies, stuffing and apple sauce with good home made yorkshire puddings (several left in the oven kept warm so that if you fancied you could spoon some jam in and have a simple pudding)
I won't mention the values left for us by our grandparents and their forefathers of being heroic and stoic to give us and build us this once beautiful country.
    British culture...don't make me laugh
    British values... what British values
Yes 30+ years ago it was a much better place even the Indians and Pakistanis and Afro Caribbeans that came in the 60's didn't change this country - they accepted everything, they kept their traditions but they assimilated rather better than anything since

But now.... jeez I don't want to talk about it

We talk on and on debating this n that . We became increasingly energised and excited by our own misery and misanthropy until we reach a kind of orgasm of negativity.'... We don't merely enjoy misery, we get off on it.

    Love it

I think the Uk has some of the best historical and modern architecture.

    Take St Pauls for example-

I wouldn't really say I have any feelings about being 'British' - one way or the other. For reasons that I like living in this country, I'd echo the scenery people have mentioned, and it always strikes me as oddly charming that you can sometimes drive no more than ten minutes from your town, and almost feel like you're in another country - it's that different.

I also like the fact that a lot of our traditional meals (regardless of their origin) are fantastic. Turkey roasts, cottage pie, and the fry-up. Oh, yes.:)

being a Muslim is the reason why I love being British.
