Recommend a camera for a teenager please

My son will be 13 in a few weeks & is wanting a camera for his birthday.

Nothing too flashy but he just wants to be able to take it up a notch from the photo's he takes with his phone.

Have noticed a few deals recently, fuji, canon etc - however there's nothing like a recommendation from someone who's actually used one.

    Looking at spending between £50-70.

    Thanks.

Look at the olympus MJU range. Some of them are waterproof, shockproof and all round damage proof. I've had one for a while now and its still going. There's a couple on ebay new with a price of around 60-70. They are great as you won't be worried that your kid won't smash it to bits in a week or two. Hope this helps

    Sorry coudln't resist..

Maybe a nice compact sturdy/waterrpoof one like others have said?

I think the best ones are ones with Li-ion batteries, that are rechargeable, rather than the one's that take AA. They last much much longer.

Agree with comments a rugged camera is a good camera (some have poor image quality through, investigate).

Looks good does it do 1080p and does it have a firewire port?
