Recommendation for 2 night break in the UK

Found 20th Sep 2008
I am going away for 2 nights next weekend and looking for somewhere nice to stay. We are leaving from London so can't go to scotland or anything but can anyone suggest somewhere to go which is a very nice (not one of the £400 a night hotel jobs please though) near to some things to go and see/ do - but this is intended to be a relaxing time and not a mad sight seeing trip. Thanks Fairy

Go to Bath, lots of things to see in a small place and visit the new spa. Cheap hotels near the city centre and some lovely restaurants.

Stayed in Wokefield Park, Reading, Berkshire. Great surroundings, beautiful food, wonderful modern rooms. Go on the site for some discounts like a 2 night stay costs £69. Not sure if you have to include a weekend night. It was worth the money when I was there 3 weeks ago.

Hope ive helped :-) xx

Ive just found a card from my last stay. Go to www.deverevenues.co.uk or call 0844 980 0037. Quote HAPPY1 and 2 night breaks to their 30 hotels start from £69. Happy hunting Fairy :-) xx

I stayed half way between Windermere and Bowness. Only thing is i cant tell you how much as it was a present, but looking on the website i think it was about £90 per night.

The Hotel i stayed in was Woodlands Hotel. 5 * B&B

Was really nice and cofy, the owner Alan is a really nice Chap, very informative, always willing to help, even when we woke him at 2Am for a bottle of water.
The breakfasts are amazing, im not into Fry ups so i have the Pancakes with maple syrup, with Strawberries and Blueberries, Cant fault the place.

Windermere and Bowness both lovely places, Bowness the Livlier of the two, not by much, still peaceful and relaxing, we got an Opentop bus to Grassmere, walked round the lake, went to Ambleside, and got Boat back to Bowness from Waterhead.

Yesterday we went across the water to beatrix potters house.

The views are spectacular, really are.

If you do this i reckon you will have a great time.
