i bought a bosch electric one and it worked fine. if you want a powerful one then a petrol trimmer will be better.

You mean a 20ft x 6ft hedge? Or inch?
If small, go for electric. Get one off gumtree or eBay for circa £15.
If bigger, I'd say go for a long reach petrol one. Likely good is that you'll only cut it a couple of times a year, so consider hiring one

Well inch would be 20"x6" so it's obviously in feet.

Bosch cordless - no risk of cutting through cables..

Bosch are a little more expensive than other brands but worth it - better made and better performing.

A 20ft hedge is a small one - no need for petrol. Cordless would work but I prefer the power of a corded one. Make sure you have a rccd device - if not in your main consumer unit (fuse box) then get a plug in one - kills the power should you accidentally cut the cable.

Have a look on ebay - people often sell very good condition trimmers simply because they've moved house and no longer need them!

Give the hedge a trim now just to tidy up but best to give it a solid prune in the autumn - as cutting now encourages growth.

Do not waste your money on a Bosch, just buy a stihl. My stihl is 19 years old and still runs perfect.
