recommendations: baby monitors with sensor pads

hi just wondered if anyone can recommend either the

Angel Care Monitor Sound and Movement
or the Tomme Tippee ones with sensor pad?

or any others, i want the ones that if the baby does not move after 20 seconds or so it sounds an alarm.

    can anyone help?

jesus it would be goig off all night

I used the Tomme Tippee one when my son was born. The sensor thing is a really good peace of mind bit of kit, although it does make you listen out for the beeps all night, just incase it ever stops. And boy when the alarm goes off (which it will do, but not as often as you might think), then you will never see yourself move so fast into the baby's room (and find them fast asleep)!

We still use the monitor part of it now, 3 years later. It has a temp sensor on it as well which is handy.
    Definitely recommend it.

waste of money, spent £120 on a movement monitor, only used for a week and went in the box. dont waste your money

sassis - why pipe up with comments????
yes thanks for that, but it also picks up on the pattern of breathing if i remember?! so if the baby stops breathing it will sound an alarm.

I think they bring piece of mind, was sat up all night watching my little girl when she was little, hopefully wont be as bad this time rounnd.

thank you babbabooey - have been looking at that one the most as they have good reviews.

I can remember peering in my daughters moses basket watching her chest rise and fall and not getting much sleep at all, so may not bemuch better, but at least have piece of mind. for a while anyway.

    you more than welcome

Wouldn't use one of these either - heart attack for the parents!

We use a BT 150 monitor, it works great.

i have had angelcare in the past, never had any problems with them and i have had the tomee tipee one with my last baby i would say i had no problems with either, this time i have gone for the newer tommee tipee one which had good reviews and a temp thing on it,i prefer the breathing monitors and i found they only had false alarms when ur baby is bigger and able to move around the cot of the sensor pad thing
also i think u will have to buy a piece of ply wood for the sensor mat to go on as they need to be on a flat surface so we put the piece of ply under the mattress in moses crib

The tomme tipee one is brilliant. Have used it since day one and our little boy is now 5 months.

Don't know how I would have coped without it TBH.

It is sooo sensitive your child doesn't have to be tap dancing for it to register movement, it is so sensitive I swear it picks up a pulse! Never had it go off as a false alarm except when I picked him up and forgot to turn it off, scared the marbles outta me.

Every movement it picks up it sounds a clicking noise like a ticking clock, its brilliant I have had many a startled night when I have woken up thinking arghhh is everything alright and within seconds I can hear that ticking noise and be reasured.

Our son was in his own room at 3 months thanks to this I really couldn't recommend it more

Its one of the many gadgets and gizmos you buy that I couldn't be without.

I had the Tommee Tippee one and it was the best thing I ever bought!! It only went off once and scared the living **** outta me but was worth the years (2 kids) of piece of mind. I don't think I would have ever slept properly without it.

Edit: This is the won we had.....bargain here tho...we paid about £80 I think

Yeah my wife bought these monitors for our first baby, being a new mother an' all, but it was a pain the bum and was gone within 3 days, only served to induce unnecessary upset and panic

hope theyre ok those are the ones i have bought

Have got both the tommee tippee sensor pad and angelcare sensor pad monitors, tbh prefer tommee tippee, seems more responsive to direct contact with pad ( angelcare seems to pick up more vibration around the cot ) and tommee tippee ones can be used as normal monitors after.
For me it was peace of mind, some people love them, some hate them, as long as you don't just rely on it and combine them with visual checking too, I personally have found them useful

Do you know I really don't know, I have always had the ticking sound on  I get so used to it I don't even realise its ticking now... but could tell you in a second if it wasn't ticking! Weird how you become acustomed to things.

I will have a look tonight when I get in, gonna bug me now lol

Nahh didn't get the one with the temp on it

i think the one u have then is the last one i had,i think u can turn the tick off,my sis said u got used to it but it drove me nuts!!
i think i have put the new ones in the loft but they are the ones with the temp thing on it,i hope u can turn it off

Yes the tick can be turned off/down:thumbsup:

we bought (and still use today!) the Angel care monitor, cant fault it..

i would also recommend the tommee tippee one......we had it for our 2nd daughter as she was premature and had breathing difficulties......best thing i have ever bought...well worth the money and great peace of mind.

I bought the angelcare montior for my first, gave me great piece of mind when she overslept, kept using it with my other two that came after her as well, it has only ever went off once in the 4 years I have had it and it was when my little boy had his bunny over his face, he took a big gasp when I removed it from his face, so for me I wouldnt be without it.

there is a bit on the angelcare one that you can adjust the sensitivity on it so if you do find it going off for no reason you can adjust it, you can also switch the tick off or tun it down so that its not disturbing you, the alarm will still sound, the new version has a temperature monitor on it as well, and it can be used as just a normal monitor after, also you do need to have a flat base on the cot to use it i.e not slatted like most, if not put a bit of mdf on the base, we had to do that with the cot that we bought

some people said that you will be waiting for it to tick all the time but for me the piece of mind while I was sleeping was worth the watching for the tick when they overslept,

here is the argos link for it argos.co.uk/sta…htm heres the one for the tommee tippee so you can compare argos.co.uk/sta…htm

So - only 5 unnecessary heart attacks then?

We have the Angelcare monitors without the sensor and the audio on them is crystal clear with no interference, Angelcare get great reviews.

look at the respisense monitor - attached to the baby and not the bed can be used all day when baby sleeps in pushchair etc - used it and cannot fault it (thought not wee wee proof so better for girls then boys) if you want one that is try snuza

both are on this page - speak to this company - they are very knowledgeable.

I bought the tommee tippee one. Have never used the pad! It picks up the sounds in the room very well but theres a loud buzz all the time unless you turn it down half way. My second is boy is 5 months now and i'm getting so fed up with the interference! I'm seriously thinking of getting a digital one, its sitting buzzing in my ear now!,
My advice would be to spend the little extra now for a digital one so you don't waste your money and have to change it later!
