Recommendations for 40" plus LCD/Plasma Full HD? NOW SORTED

I'm bogged down by all there are to choose from so far ive found one that looks good for the money, but at the top end of my budget (£600) anyone tried haggling for reduced price or accessories thrown in at Comet/Curries etc?
    Any tips?

These are all useful web sites, the latter is where all the techno geeks hang out for a chit chat abouit AV stuff(me as well!!) . Its fab, but be prpared to do a little reseacrh, and dont fall for the old currys/comet sales trick of flogging you what they want to get rid of, its not always best for you. click on AV forums for a feel of it?

Thanks saw it earlier but didnt see the codes to bring it down so saw it as a saving of £20 over comet so disregarded it as i'd rather pay £20 more with bricks and mortar stores, however £50 saving means its worth it.

tesco is selling an LG 42" plasma for less than 500, i saw them in my ocal store today £489 IIRC

The Toshiba at Argos has mixed reviews when you dig deeper but still good for the money.

Sorry should have updated sooner, but we bought a 40" Samsung Tuesday and had it delivered yesterday, paid a bit more than we budgeted at £675 but included a 5 year warranty, still left us with £230 left from our cheque for the old one though, so may get a blu-ray player too.

Did way up the options and the one we got had excellent reviews and got it from a iocal store who know their stuff, although this is the one we had chose anyway, comet price was £599 + £20 delivery with only a standard warranty so £55 extra for a 5 year warranty was good.:-D

The old one is on ebay at the minute as spares/repairs had 370+ hits in 3/4 days but only one offer on the buy it now/best offer price, nice telly shame about the cracked screen.
