Recommendations for a hotel near Bishop's Stortford / Stanstead?

Somewhere in the B's Stortford - Stanstead - Newport triangle.

Thanks - will consider anything up to £100 per night for two adults, room only.

When do you need it and for how long?

One night, maybe two if we travel the day before - attending a wedding in the area, about 10 NW of the airport - July

Thanks emasu - but that would be about 15 miles from the wedding - I wonder how much a taxi would cost for that distance? Might make it cheaper to book a more expensive place closer by.

Lots of nice ones listed on there, even though the list is a few years old most are still operating. Mr Oliver (Jamies dad's) place the Cricketers is really nice and in a lovely location in Clavering.

Thank you - that's really helpful. And the Cricketers has been recommended by the parents of the bride too! Repped

I get 2 nights for the price of 1 at holiday inn and express etc and I know they have one near the airports (you can also use Quidco too).

I also have a link for Crown Plaza hotels at around £60 per night including a buffet english breakfast (normally £11 per person).

Let me know if you want me to find the links, as it saved us a fortune last year.

That would be great - when you get a chance. You really are a real friendly man! :-D

p.s. how come you have the 2-4-1 at Hilton. Will I be able to get that?

Let me know the dates that you're looking for and checkout their site to see if there's a hotel that meets your needs.

I found one near Heathrow airport at Crown Plaza costing about £54 including buffet breakfast for both of you but that's the wrong airport.

I don't know about the Hilton offers, when I last checked that promo, it worked out a lot more than Holiday Inn and if you're not planning on spending much time at the hotel, it's a waste of money really.

P.S I love helping people and believes it spreads good Karma.

If ok, I'll PM you the date/s rather than tell the burglars when I'll be away from home

Thanks. It would usually be good, but the reception is a few miles north of the airport so this would be too far.

Hopefully I might have found something with the help of rfm already Thanks for yours though. Repped!

It seems they've bumped up the price for the 2 for 1 offer at the stanstead hotel but check the list to see if there's any hotels nearby that you're willing to stay at, they're charging £25-£30 per night.

Have you seen any that you like, I know there was one that was about £25 per night (£50 for both nights) but it was a bit out of the way?

I haven't checked properly yet - too busy on other threads

Can you remember which one that was at that price? Even at a distance with transport fares, could work out cheaper overall

lol no worries, I was supposed to sort out some stuff as well and I keep getting distracted myself. :giggle:

    I noticed:
Holiday Inn Express in Chingford was £35 per night including breakfast (near the motorway, so it's cheaper and quicker to get to your location.

Holiday Inn Brentwood is £34.50 per night on the M25

Holiday Inn Basildon is £30.50 per night

There's some more as well but have a little look and checkout the distances via Mapquest to see if it's suitable...I still can't believe the one near the airport bumped up the fee to £80 per night for the dates you needed.

Cheers for all your hard work. They are quite a distance away (25 miles+) so might not work, but those prices are brilliant! I might think of booking a separate holiday in London with them and doing the museums again this summer! THANKS!!:thumbsup:

Sorry I couldn't help more...I wish I could with Holiday Inn but like I said, check the other places out too or checkout the other site I mentioned while blending in vouchers and Quidco together to get huge discounts from any hotel.

I highly recommend trips in London and would be more than happy to help out with places to go on a budget, as I've already helped people out with that in the past.

If you do this and are just looking for a base take a look here
    maps.google.co.uk/map…406
Choice of 4 of the motel type accomodation. Close to public transport. Obviously you will find something plusher but more expensive in central london or west or southwest london.
Go for street view if it does not open that way

I continued looking around for you and I've found Park Inn hotel (3 stars for room only) at around £100 (£50 per night) and I found Hilton for around £125, once again, room only.

Let me know if you're happy with that and if you would like the details.

Wouldn't recommend the hilton, have been there lots of times and its a dive for the cost they charge. Raddisson is really nice but expensive....if it was me I'd rather go for a nice country house b+b for 1/4 of the price

According to your location, you should know better than I would, so maybe you can recommend some hotels and show the pricing for them.

Thanks Neil - that's a really good list and a couple sound ideal actually. After further consideration, proximity and cosiness are probably the top priorities and the prices you've quoted all seem very reasonable considering that ... Thanks again
