Recommendations please - speakers for the living room

Found 3rd Mar 2009
Got a party coming up this weekend and would love your thoughts on some proper speakers which I can connect my laptop or Ipod to.

Looking for something under £100 or there about if possible - also getting bit late for postal delivery so if I can get from a store that would be super.

Over your price range but the Bose Soundock will fill a room very well for a party... its battery powered too.
what about hiring a PA system and really annoy your neighboours
I had to do the same thing 6 months ago and eventually choose the Jivebox from Logic. the Igroove Klipsch was the other choice but then about another £30 more. If you go on amazon you can read the reiews from people for both.
Before I bought the Jivebox I connected my laptop or my mp3 through my existing stereo with a cable (earphone connection MP3 and laptop and cable in the back of the old stereo) which worked great as well.
So would you say the sounds from the Jivebox was very good ? - The other option is to trial the Sounddock and maybe return it ? Cheeky but they do offer a trial..

Anyone use the Igroove?
Yep, very happy with the Jivebox. Fab clear sound.
One of my prerequisites was Watts and this one has 90. Really good sound.
It has not switched off on me yet which is one of the issues some people mention. Apparently it switches off after long silences, most often found in Classical music. I only play blues, pop etc. and have not come across this issue.
The only issue would be (and this is pushing it!) when I play some thumping music on the loudest settings, like Kings of Leon, the box travels a little bit across the table it is on! ;o)
Would not hesitate buying it again right now. I live in a 4 bedroom detached house and when I play it in the kitchen I can hear it when I am in the shower, unbelievable as the box only measures 20cm x 20cm x 20cm.
Hope this helps.
