    Refuse Delivery Scan.co.uk

I ordered a graphics card from Scan.co.uk but I have changed my mind and want to return it as I have been put off by some bad reviews of it.

It has already been dispatched for a monday delivery. My question is can I just refuse the delivery to return the product quickly? Is this a good idea?

you need to check with scan, contact them. I had recently done this with gameplay and their t &c was you need a authorisation code before you reject the delivery but done it with argos and no authorisation code required so just rejected delivery.

Thanks, I'll try to catch them first thing in the morning. Did those stores charge you the return delivery cost?

gameplay did because i received my returns authorisation code after delivery but argos didnt. If you reject delivery(dont sign) no charges.

Maybe you should check reviews before you order in future and save yourself unnecessary hsssle.

whats graphics card is it? how bad can reviews possibly be..

also you should be paying return delivery, not their fault is it mate

I had just ordered the i3 540 bundle from scan and It was an impulse buy, I had to work yesterday and had little time to research, pretty stupid i know.

I ordered in a hurry the 512mb ddr5 gt440 (£59.99) which gets a passmark score of 906 and looked ok

I found today also on scan the sapphire HD 5670 512mb ddr5 which is a similar price on scan (£58.07) and gets a score of 1,248.

And now im thinking i should spend a bit more and get a HD 5770 for ~£100 which scores 1,644

To be honest i find getting to grips with which component is the best value really hard work, i havent built a pc for 4 years and im really out of the loop.

The bundle of parts i ordered is for the i3 540 cpu which i believe is overclockable, but for £13 more I could get a similar deal on the i3 2100 which is the newer socket and gets better benchmark scores. Then there is AMD which seems way better value and easier to upgrade later on, but theres so many different processors i've no idea where to start.
Im trying to avoid procrastinating too much, all i want is a reasonably powerful system that can play modern games for under £350

join and ask there, they will help you out on your budget and best bits to get

dont worry too much about synthetic benches, if you have a low res monitor or dont play many new games (crysis 2 mainly:)) for which you would need a whole new monster of a pc.. you should be fine
