Refused credit for new mobile phone!! Argh!! What can I do?

After being with the same mobile company on contract for 10 years (02) and finding a phone and deal I want I put an order online for a new contract with Orange...I've just got an email saying it has been declined and I have no idea why!!

I've had a look at my credit report and can't see anything wrong, my morgage is always paid on time as are all my bills. I have one credit card with not very much on it that gets paid every month. The only things I think it would be would be that they put through the order twice, it was cancelled by them by mistake and the order put through again the same day OR the flat I bought 7 months ago was a repossession and the previous owners had alot of red letters sent to them!

I really need a new contract as 02 is not working in my area...never been turned down for credit before so v odd!!

Rep to all that can help!

[FONT=Verdana]Have you contacted them to confirm why you were rejected?

Is there a local store that you can pop into to get them to phone on your behalf?

    Cheers, Scotty Boy!

get a copy of your credit score from experian or such like and find out why

Im probably guessing its 80% related to your flat. Arent you supposed to be living at the same address for about 3 years in order to take out a contract or credit card? Because your current has had alot of red bills it probably means that the add is blacklisted? this you probably could look into.

I thought they (as in Orange) couldn't say why I was rejected? I thought it would need to be a credit thingee you'd call?

It might not be the credit score your looking at they are using...you can have a few credit scores with different agencies and so sometimes you can have a noscore if its a new ageny they use etc...its not just one credit scire you have...they are linked but not always a same

I did think that, although I had applied and been accepted for a new credit card at that address...

If your with CreditExpert call them up and they can give you information on your credit history. If you say it's good as it is, then the only reason why i see you getting declined for a contract is because of the address you staying at. Unless you use your old address as the billing address and pick up the letters from there, and the phone as it would be delivered to the address you put down.

Mobile phone comapnies dont usually know why you are declined, it's also to do with your credit score. havey ou checked what your score is?

experian is the main 1 used and it wll show all recent requests for credit and other transactions

if there is a problem with your credit you will find out through them:thumbsup:

Sometimes different lenders or companies go through different credit agencies. I say try this. try going for a contract through T-Mobile, if they accept you, then you know it's just the network and not YOU. If you dont want the tmobile contract simply just cancel it within the cooling off period.

i spoke to someone at credit expert and they also said if you have too much credit you can be rejeted for buying things on contract oreven getting a new credit card

    Orange won't tell you.

Sometimes they have a run on only taking customers with a credit score of x, if you've a lower score you're rejected.

It will be your flat. happened to a friend of mine. Go to O2 shop and explain.

Make sure all utilities etc know previous occupants have left etc so it doesn't happen again.

Get a free credit check just to make sure

Your credit rating is on you not the property so it won't be down to previous occupiers

Orange have always been fairly strict, you have most likely failed on points, and its probably more to do with only being at the address for 7 months than anything else.
    You can appeal I believe

Orange will normally review the application if you send in a copy of your credit file!

Ask Orange to provide you with an account number that associated with your new mobile transaction then fill one of the forms below.

    EQUIFAX
    http://www.consumer.equifax.ca/dispute-ca/dispute_process/en_ca

    TRANSUNION
    http://www.transunion.ca/ca/personal/creditdisputes_en.page

These forms are free of charge. It may take 48 to 72 hours to hear back from them.

    Bonne chance.

check all details are correct i pay everything never missed payments etc never failed a credit check in my life and my car insurance failed one - when i asked the girl on the telephone to go through all the details turned out they had my address wrong - once corrected passed no probs

Yeaaaah nearly three and a half years old and all the yada yada stuff.

difficult to resolve when your credit is refused.

best bet is to get a family member to put it into their name for you. i had to get it under me OH's name.

I want to get a simcard on monthly contract, but Vodafone, Tesco and Virgin have all refused me apparently on the grounds that until January this year I was working in France for three years. No matter that I have a good income, no credit reference problems, and that I lived in UK for 60 years before going to France! This seems incomprehensible - I could be a millionaire, and still be refused for the same reason. How do I get around this problem? I do not want a pay-as-you-go contract. I have a number of other arrangements, eg my BT phone and broadband, and all my other monthly bills, all more expensive than the simcard contract would be, where my stay in France was never mentioned. Where is the sense in this? What's different about mobile phone providers that they decide to have this restriction?

ORANGE ARE KACK !!!! they have been voted worst customer service this year
