Found 29th Jul 2009
I have 2 staffs and recently split from my husband and i cant manage 2 as im a single parent to 4 boys one of which has special needs. So need to rehome my male staff.

Anyone know where best to rehome them via??? He is only 14mths old and great with kids but im stuck on how to rehome him, he needs to go asap though as he is already missing out on time with me that he is used to as he is a quite in your face dog at times and needs that time where as my other staff she is lazy and sleeps, eats, drinks and toilet thats it unless someone comes round then she gets excited but she is a lot easier to manage.

Im gutted as i love him to bits but i just cant manage him and my husband couldnt of taken him as he is in a flat and its no pets.

I would try to find a new owner yourself first, I would imagine you will feel a lot better knowing a bit about the people who are going to be the new owners...plus you will feel better knowing he is going to nice people.
If this doesnt work out or you just dont have the time then I would suggest looking for a specialised staffy home in your area. If there arent any I would let him go to a home such as the Dogs Trust, or another rehoming charity more specialised to dogs...hope some of this helped...:)

really sorry to hear that amcol, I remember you getting him. Have you looked for a local Staffy rehoming/rescue centre? With his age and friendly disposition im sure they will be willing to help. If our Bitsey wasnt so old I would seriously consider him myself. Hope you manage to find a good home for him.

There is no dogs trust near me will that matter? I am in Lincoln and have no transport either which is a pain as i couldnt take him to places.

He is a lovely dog just so full of energy and in your face at times, finds it hard to sit on the spot for more than 1 second a time lol.....will have a look about though, thanks ever so much.

Not found a local staffy rescue centre either, would so much prefer him to go to a good home instead of kennels then another home if possible. Thanks for advice :-) blooming hard work this seperating malarky!

Awww sorry about your split, i would go along with lil-tigers suggestions, haven't any of your friends shown an interest in the dog? maybe one of them would rehouse him.

Maybe someone will buy him.would you mind that?

There a few online websites to sell pets.

What about contacting your vets? they might be able to put you in touch with a charity or individual that could help

Try epupz or preloved. My son and wife bought a gorgeous golden retriever aged 16 months via the preloved site.

You're not that far from me. There are 2 dog homes near me. One is the RSCPA centre between Bawtry and Doncaster, and theres also a private rescue place just outside Retford. Can get numbers if you like, but obviously bit far, so let me know if its a non-starter.

The one just outside Retford is really good - my daughter got a puppy from them and they're very caring.
Wish I could have him but with two young dogs already I've got enough 'doggyage'. Hope you can sort this out, I know it's not easy.
xx

have you tried advertising in the paper or local shops and vets then when they come to look at him hopefully they will full in love with him good luck

Thanks everyone, i advertised him on Preloved and i have had a immediate response from someone, he has been training EBT for a friend, a friend has a litter then gives them to him at 12-13 wks old, then he trains them for shows until they are 1.5yrs old, he said he gets so attached to the dogs he has had enough of it and wants a dog of his own but didnt want a total little puppy but a staffy that is approx a yr old.

Well anyway he is coming tonight to look at him and i will grill him to make sure he is perfect person, but he is a bloke with a 12yr old son, who wants a companion, so sounds perfect to me.

Will rep all those that helped.
Thanks

i keep my fingers crossed for you good luck

It would be quite understandable if you were to shed a few tears. I accompanied by daughter-in-law 2 years ago to view the golden retriever they bought through preloved and we all ended up in tears. However from the dog's point of view we did the right thing and she is now a very very happy dog indeed and dil kept in touch by text for the first few weeks to keep the previous owner updated and reassured. I am confident that everything will be fine for you.

Yes that's the one - they're great there apparently.

I hope this has worked out for you and your dog.

Well Rocky has now been rehomed, the bloke was really nice and he took to Rocky and loved him to bits as did Rocky to him.
It was awful to let him go, i did shed a few tears but i know its whats best for him in the long run, he will be well looked after and want for nothing.
The heart breaking thing was watching him get into the car, he looked at me as if to say Mummy where am i going, a face i wont ever forget bless his little heart.
Thanks everyone for your support.

I love a happy ending (sniff) :-D

Made me cry too - but you did the right thing for your dog. xxxx

Glad this tale has a happy ending, I was hoping you didnt go down the RSPCA route, as its likely a staffy like most breeds would have failed the cat test. and be PTS.

oh Amcol, that is so sad :-( but......you know you have done the right thing for him and he will be happy.
