    Removing Time/Date Stamp From A DVR D011 Bike/Car Cam

mytempfiles.info/gum…tml (not my work, all credit goes to those who made this possible)

Follow the instructions in the above link (obviously at your own risk! I will not be held responsible for any damages done from the use of the guide). I didn't use a memory stick but instead downloaded the files to my desktop and installed/transferred them from there (this is outlined in the guide as fine), however, for modding newbies you should follow the guide instructions, as having the files on a separate drive makes things a little less confusing.

Note: The required program ISP_1528.exe DOES NOT work with the 64bit version of Windows 7, but is confirmed working with Windows XP (32bit), Vista (32bit) or Windows 7 (32bit).

The program in this guide removes the time/date from video only, it will remove the t/d from stills (camera mode) but will leave a black box where the t/d used to be.

Once you get to part 21, check the size of the backed-up firmware (1528.bin.brn) in folder C:\isp\download - this should be 1,735,852 bytes (once confirmed make a copy of the 'download' folder and store it elsewhere just in case you need to re-flash the original firmware back to the cam) - if it's not then DO NOT proceed until you have posted the exact size here so I can compare with other known compatible firmware's. Also, if you get ANY errors or freezes during the back-up then you must start over.

That's it, as I said before any mods of this nature are NOT for the faint hearted, you should only proceed once you have fully read the instructions and feel confident that you know what you are doing.

If you're not sure about something then post here first and I will try to guide you.

Cam is available from 7dayshop (see current thread here: hotukdeals.com/dea…370 )

Thank you for posting this Norse. However, I shall wait to hear some feedback from those less feint-hearted than me before I try it myself. I shall follow this thread with interest.

I must admit it does look daunting at first, but it's not that hard. I've actually done 2 cams now and both work fine.

I've also fully stripped down one of the cams to check the motherboard etc and now have some other ideas for modding this cam (I'll update them in this thread). If anyone wants to strip their own then it's very easy.

    1. Carefully lift the edges of the button surround on top - it's a bit stiff but does release eventually (it's a clip not glued in).
    2. Unscrew the lens cover at the front of cam and remove.
    3. Gently squeeze the top and bottom of the lens housing to release the holding tabs.
    4. Carefully pull the whole assembly out.

You sound like the kind of person who just can't resist tinkering with gadgets.
That's great as long as you can put them back together again.

Thanks Norse, that guide worked for me, good to be rid of the timestamp.

i'm interested in doing this but at this step

    15. Enter Webcam mode:

► On the GumPack, Short-Press the Record button ONCE

► On the 808, Short-Press the Power button ONCE

► On the MD80, Short-Press the Mode button ONCE

    which one do you do?

Just press the button on top once, this will put the unit in webcam mode.

Balls, bricked mine attempting this (the app froze during flashing). There is an unbrick method on similar models that involves pulling it appart and shorting two connectors while pressing a button or two. Tried this with the 3 obvious unsoldered connector pairs with no result. Oh well.
