First of all no matter where you hire a car dropping it off at a different airport to where you pick it up costs extra every day you have the car. It is much cheaper not to do this or if you have to do this for one or 2 days only.

2nd do not rent a car at the airport unless you really have to. even if you go to the same comany eg hertz there downtown office will be a lot cheaper than the airport. (and I mean a lot!! well worth catching the bus)

3rd try the yellow pages when you get there because there are some great small time car rental companies that can give amazing deals. I once flew in to Minneapolis got the prices at the desks c$300 went downtown had a walk around and saw a small car rental office where I got a Mazda 6 for $125 a week inclusive of everything. Plus at the airport they tried to charge me extra every day because I was under 25. as soon as you leave the airport car rental companies do not charge for this normaly.

third check your VISA card because mine gives free insurance when hiring a car and there is a code on the back of the card for that.

fourthly have a great trip - it sounds like it's going to be awesome dude!
