Repair for Toshiba 37X3030 LCD needed - suggestions please!

My toddler has broken the LCD screen on my Toshiba 37X3030D - it's only a few weeks old. He hit it with a coat hanger (gently) and smashed the screen!

I'd appreciate suggestions please as to whether it's worthwhile getting it repaired, and if so, is the part available?

    Thanks,
    David

    warrenty if not house insurerance

Agree with above. House insurance is probably your best bet.

While waiting for the repair, you should be able to connect it to an external monitor - you miss out the advantage of portability but at least you can get on with using it I suppose.

I've tried it under warranty - the Toshiba engineer said "no" and wasn't willing to cost a repair.

It's not covered under house insurance - I didn't cover accidental so I'm evaluating the options of a) repairing it or possibly b) sticking it on eBay as damaged. There's also c) donate to a local charity.

As long as the price isn't insane i'm sure you can get a screen replaced, just google 'LCD TV screen repair'.

Wouldn't have a clue what companies are trustworthy though.

    or

If it's one long crack and it's only a few weeks old you could claim (to toshiba or shop) that a faint line on the screen that you thought was a scratch when first setting it up turned into a full blown crack, and ask for a replacement. With what you say about the toddler barely touching the screen, it may be that the surround was slightly warped putting stress on the screen. If you ring up again I wouldn't mention the kid and say you found it like that one morning.

Nice thought - except that it's not a glass screen. There's a definate bash at the centre of the screen, which has caused it.

Also, the Toshiba engineer took a note of the serial number.

toshiba wont repair it and you pay? nothing to do with warranty, just as a general repair.

My three little 'angels' constantly bang a ball off the screen when playing football in the house.....accidentally, of course.

I'm surprised that your gentle tap has caused this damage. Perhaps there was something already wrong with it?

I'm surprised you let your "little angels" bounce balls off the screen! Accidently or not, its the very reason you should stop "football in the house".

Just my opinion! My kids know better than to do this - but had to be drummed into them.
