Replacement satellite receiver

Found 13th Jul 2014
My nan's satellite receiver has just died. It was an icecrypt S1500c. Can anyone suggest some alternatives in a similar price range? She has her dish pointed to Hotbird 13E (boring religious programming). She previously had a technomate which also died. I know when I looked before the receivers from argos et al wouldn't work with that satellite. Is this still the case? Thanks.

I'd recommend an openbox v5s

This is a reliable box and the supplier will send it already set up for the channels you want. Make sure to tell him to remove all reference to porn channels.

How about another S1500c? store.yourdigitalhome.co.uk/sat…tml

The suggestions in #1 & #2 are a poor mans Chinese clones of other boxes which have a poor track record. I'd advise steering clear.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll look into those. My issue with the icecrypt is that it packed up within 3 yrs with no warning. The technomate was like 7 or something years old and died because of a power surge. So I'm looking for something a little more reliable.

If it's for free channels a TM1500 is ideal . You'll get one cheap from abay .There old models now but easy to setup with good picture quality .I'm running a Spiderbox HD9000 now but have still kept my TM1500 as it's a great little box for installing/ setting up/testing a motorised system.
