Does anyone know if i need to deactivate my PSN account before replacing the HDD. I dont know if the PSN account info is stored on the PS3 or its HDD. Also will i need to download the latest PS3 firmware again for the new HDD. Many Thanks.

If you use the backup thing which will be under settings it should basically sort everything out for you. Just plug in an external hard drive if you have one or read this gamersreports.com/art…/1/

After backup, and installion of HDD, you may need to update (again).
Use the usb drive, shows on playstation webpage.
basically, down to usb then the ps3 asks for it will access the usb drive

Thanks people for the advice and thanks mikey for the link. Exactly as the website said the firmware, console settings and the psn account remain will still be there after the upgrade. Just upgraded with a Western Digital500gb hdd from ebuyer good price too at £65 inc postage. Formatting took 30 seconds so well chuffed just touch wood i dont get any problems now.

I think its best to keep the OLD Hdd, as if your have to send it back they want to orginal drive back in.
Just saying
